Given lohrm1's post and replies just wondering if there was an untapped source of J340 heads out there? My count there's about 20+ known heads that I've seen circulating the forums.

If someone is hoarding any heads..c'mon share the wealth....

I've had 3 at one time... only have 1 now.. been in a tourstage truck while back and they had atleast 10 in the van. They told me there were plenty more where that came from. I went to a demoday and they were kinda shocked that I showed up with a j340, so I got special treatment.

10 in the van? and more where those came from?

Hmmm... Care to venture a guess how many heads in existence today? Been through many challengers, but the J340 is always the last Big Break contestant in the the bag.

Three at a time - wow!!! Never had the opportunity to hit one, are they really that nice? What year were they originally made?

best "feeling" "sounding" driver I have ever hit. Maybe not the longest or most forgiving..but the feel is unmistakable. GO member I think his name is USGAbound or something close to that had 2 for sale...

I don't have the driver up in the BST section (nor plan one in the future) so I am comfortable hyping the driver, but I agree with JohnnyTN the J340 is the best feeling and sounding driver I've hit as well.

I haven't played long enough to know what persimmon felt like, but to date this is the only driver that I've hit that doesn't feel hollow. Gives the impression that it's a solid block of metal.

I think it hits plenty far enough also. Definitely deserves the reputation offered by J340 proponents.

I think his are gone but you could ask...I don't know that there are that many "floating" out there. I might have just gotten lucky. (You probably don't want to know what condition mine is in.)

Ya, I have a feeling the words mint and new might come into play. That's okay keep it that way since after you slap that Zcom or 671 in there I am keeping my fingers crossed that your ever faithful TP beckons you and you keep me on your short PM list!

Found a Zcom TW74 that's on it's way. You're first on my list if I don't like the club, but with winter approaching and a bad shoulder that's keeping me off the range, it may be awhile before I try the club. I'm not sure what's worse, looking for a J340 or having a brand new one sitting here and not being able to hit it. :wah:

Duke,

I HAVE been around long enough...played persimmon from the early 60's to the late 80's and the J340 is as close to that feel as you can possibly have in a metal driver. I still have a Cleveland Bryon Nelson Persimmon driver and 3 wood.

What the J340 does offer as a compensation for the slight lack of feel is about 30 more yards...more forgiveness and is almost as workable!

Just got my J340 about 6 weeks ago and it is by far the best driver I've ever hit or played.

Last week with a slight helping breeze, I drove a 320 yard par 4. I feel like I'm your age again!

Mike

I still play persimmon from time to time as well..

(Cleveland Classic 10th Anniversary) for me.. driver and 3w...

The J340 is #1 by far in terms of feel. Someday I will likely replace it, but not for that reason. But I've had it in the bag for 2+ years now...and bought just about everything under the sun to replace it and it's still there.

Okay by my count that's:

mine

lohrm1

skink

johnnytn

mm48

da

leftrev

i think wick had one. I know of another head. Less than 10. So those 10 in the van that JohnnyTN saw are still unaccounted for not to mention the more where those came from.

I guess the J340 has all a ho wants...looks, feel, sound, rarity, and mystique.

There's a brand new J340 for sale right now. Someone grab it before I do. I don't need any more drivers!!! :-D

I have one "laying around" if someone is interested. It is 8 out of 10 with a 661 Fuji in it.

sent you a PM.

It looks like the highest loft is 9.5*. Do they play true to loft?

I wanted to buy one so many times, but didn't think 9.5* was enough loft for me. I normally play 10.5* in a driver.

Did a search from another site and a couple years ago DemolitionMan listed a 10* for sale. So I think there might be hope...

Thanks Duke. I'll keep my eyes open for a 10*

I picked one up awhile back. I think its close to 10*. It seems to hit a little lower than stated loft. For awhile, the only ones that were floating around were 8.5*. I was able to get one of those up fairly well though. There is probably more like a couple hundred available. Like the RX-1.

The RX-1...now there's a good club. I often think of picking one of these up again.

Hope I am not stepping on any toe's here dd . But there is one on eBay right now .
