X- Drive 365 Maru or X-Drive 2

A couple people I know acquired these from U.S Tourstage Reps late last month but my custom ordered driver will not ship for another 10 days so Id like to know if anyone has hit them here.

The X-drive 365 is .5 open so I ordered mine .5 closed, Its available in any shaft length, I went with 44.25 Graphite Design M-75

I am scared because Maru is using this driver and every driver Maru uses is very difficult to hit. It being a PRO SPEC model, the C.O.R is within and conforming to the USGA rules and regulations. The TYPE 365 was manufactured as a more forgiving head than the Maru Spec.

The 365 is Limited Edition Special order only researched and proved to work best for the high trajectory, fade hitters. This X-Drive model has been made and released in limited quantities ensuring a higher level of quality control and specification accuracy. But, keep in mind that waiting too long for this limited driver, puts you in jeopardy with the lack of inventory.

The feedback I am hearing is its a 365cc driver shaped like the 325cc version with a less open face. The C.O.G & weighting is for someone who plays a high fade.... thats me

When is the scheduled release of the x drive 2?

The X-Drive 2 is the X-Drive 365.

They release on the 10th of November and it takes 2 weeks before shipping because they are made per order custom shaft lengths.

Can you customize the sw?what is the cost?

I'm paying retail price for my personal version but its coming from Pro support car at .5 closed & 44.25". The ones on ebay were all pre ordered at 44.5" .5 open. If you want to pay retail + my profit I can get anyone a pro support driver. The retail version with your choice of Shaft & length is 770.00 shipped.

I am in the search for the perfect Tourstage Driver, I hope yet doubt this could be it.

what are the retail specs?

There is actually no retail version, these are being marketed like the MR-23 line as limited edition. In fact there is no advertising for them at all.

44.5 & .5 open face S and X flex only is the norm.

Seems like TourStage is the import driver brand of choice. Are they really that good or is it Maru driving sales? I got the impression that the x-drive series was a disappoint from previous posts but people are looking forward to the 2005 release???

Tourstage is known for a different type of driver, Foamed heads and a muted sound/feel is what i associate them with. What gets many of us is why they do not have a single square face driver in their line up. Its always 1 degree open or 1 degree closed.

The only models that are conforming is the Pro Spec Series which only come in 9* -1 Open face & with stout stock shafts. To Tourstage Pro Spec means PRO SPEC.

The TS woods are not easy for club builders also, They need to heat slowly and do some things different. Always tell your club builder its a foamed head and to apply low heat while taking their time. I have heard of nightmare stories where a novice club maker ruins a Bridgestone head.

In the past year Tourstage hasn't really made any user friendly drivers. I am hoping this 365 is the what I'm looking for.

They are all only 9* and the SW depends on the length you play it at.

The one I ordered is D1 44.25 and thats with a 75g shaft.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have had my custom order closed face 365 for a while now and put it against the standard .5 open version.

The difference for me is very noticeable, The .5 closed version plays EASY I normally play a fade and at 9* closed the trajectory is perfect.

The .5 open model was great also it just sets up looking square and plays a slightly bigger fade with the same shaft.

The head shape from top looks large and from the sole also. This club does not look like the traditional X-Drive it looks bigger at only 365cc

( looks 400cc ), the face is not so deep yet not too long heel to toe. I really like this driver a lot it has less spin than my R7 the trajectory is higher than my R7 8.5 and this club is for sure longer, even longer than the M.A.X.

Guys I can custom order most face angles at a premium price. I highly suggest .5 closed for people with a fade. I have not hit a better driver period and that includes the R7. The easiest to hit X-Drive to date by far.

Chris - how did the X-365 turn out? I know you sold it but that doesnt mean you didnt like it! *cough ho cough*

I have a R7 Tour on the way but if that doesnt work out I think I will look you up for a X-340 actually

I like mine a lot, but I liked the ballflight on my 510 tp more. I think this may be the shaft since the gd japan shafts generally have a softer tip compared to the 757. I think I'm going to have mine reshafted with a diamana when it comes out, and I'll go from there, but either way this is a keeper.
