bruinduke
Hope this is the right forum...I am looking for tips on how to preserve finish on flat black or chromed blak finish on irons/wedges. I know that with play the soles and faces will show wear, but any suggestions on maintenance to preserve the overall finish and delay having to refinish a set? Thanks... +TourSpecGolfer
I think that if you wipe them with a wet towel after each shot and oil them once every 2 weeks with peanut, olive, or cooking oil that should keep it dark and smooth for a very long while except on the sole and hitting area. Looks good also with wear, If you do this often you wont accumulate rust or build up on the face.
joey3108
Make sure heating it up enough so we could deep fried some Chicaron and Lumpiang Shanghai. :surprize: I'll make the sauce for it. J/K LOL! Seriously, After play , wash them and spray them w/ WD40 and wipe them of w/ a dry clean towel. Once a while you can reapply the gun blue solution if you want to. Joe

Yes, but you need to clean them up first to a bare metal to get a good result.Joe
xxio
Joe, You sure you're not 1/4 Filipino or something? Maybe just too many Filipino customers huh? Duke is coming down for golf and maybe to get married as well.....ask him to bring you back chicharon from Carcar, Cebu....they are porkchops disguised as chicharon. Duke, Getting married will cut down your Ho'ing (both golf and otherwise) by around 50%. You better do your golf shopping down here before you tie the knot. Just remember progear or golfdepot. stevopagolf
You can get gun blue at Walmart. Also Flitz cream, most hardware stores cleans up and takes off rust without hurting the blue. It is about $10. You can also get Gun Blue Restorer as well. If you are going to gun blue something you will need to strip off any finish in order for the gun blue to stick.
joey3108
Toby, I told Duke to let everything out now or never. LMAO! Trust me! If I'm coming to Cebu, Willy will make me a very busy man for sure. Plus a lot of them all the way to Makati. I will be lucky if i came home w/ a fresh blood left in my vain. Imagine that I only 1/4, what if i'm full 100%. :) Duke, Just say "YES & OK" to them, they know more than us. :surprize: BTW, I finished taking all the heads out...Found more interesting discovery. A few of shafts was installed only 3/4" and the PW is only 5/8". None of the head has weight adjustment inside, No F***ing wonder the swing weight was from D1 all the way to D3.5. At this point , I will bet anything i got that this iron is a refinished iron. JOe
xxio
Refinished and short shafted irons???? Where did you buy those? Sounds like something I did and after 3 irons just decided to send them to my driver to install so I could use them the next day, rgret that and then send them again for a reshaft to a real clubmaker. Joe, Please send Willy a 580 XD tour head. He keeps wanting mine. He has offered a few thing for it. It is just so rare over here and at the $$$ I got it for. Willy actually now wants 2 things I have....RJB 360TR and 580XD Tour/Six.
