I play with Mac 1025MBs and have become pretty obsessive compulsive with keeping them clean. I was just wondering if using glass cleaner and a rag is ok? And if anyone else has ideas for keeping blades clean. Thanks.

after each shot i hit i always clean it with water from my towel and clean the grooves.so rarely do i ever have to clean them after a round unless i go hit balls on the range. advice so u dont have to scrub them after each round, scrub them after each shot

I came across a pretty good cleaning mixture by mistake. Windex, water and a little bleach in a windex bottle. Spray on and towel off and your sparkling clean.

I keep playing them until my iron heads has so much grass on them it looks like chia pets. Then I buy a new set. :love:

J/k.. water and a toothbrush will usually do it for me. I've learned to keep the iron covers off when I'm not on the course so the moisture doesn't build up and start rusting the irons.

ditto...only takes about 20 minutes to do all the clubs in the bag..am only a little obsessive about it.. :whistle:

Great to hear others maintain and take pride in their equipment too.

I agree, having a wet towel on your bag is huge, the towel must be very wet in one corner.

A toothbrush is great too and I use NOXON Metal Polish once a week. It is the BEST.

Cleaning your grips after each round is key too, don't forget them. Warm soapy water on a wash cloth, towel dry lightly and let them air dry.

NOT keeping your irons in the trunk of your car is brilliant. They clank around and ding each other as well as dry out the grips in 100* summer storage.

I check the ferrules every week, I hate it when one gets loose and makes a ticking noise every other shot.

I check their lofts at least three times a season, I hit off the mats every day and this can strengthen their loft angles.

BUT...the very best way to maintain your irons is.....drumroll....hit em' long and straight!

:) sorry, here in Ohio we jus play and throw them in the back of the truck. If it rains they get clean. Soap and brush before tourneys,

wipe down with Aormer All, or WD-40 on occasion, black metal woods look great wiped down with WD 40, keeps the water spots at bay to when you are playing.... :surprize:

I've play 3 or 4 bball tournaments a year with the same partner for the last ten yeas and I know that they will get cleaned at each tournament. Lets see thats 1 cleaning about every 25 rounds and I never have to get my hands dirty. :laugh: Best cleaning solution I have come across. :cool:

I use a small brush + water mixed with dishwashing liquid + wet cloth + dry cloth. After cleaning, I air-dry every club at least overnight. Since I do the cleaning after every round, I can spot quickly if any club start to rust - even a mere tiny spot. To get rid of rust, I spray WD40 upon it and rub it off with a piece of dry cloth or a cotton bud. This works very well for me.

WD-40 and a nylon brush on forged irons. Helps keep the rust off.

I have a little bottle that I got from a golf shop. It has a round brush on the end about the size of a quarter and a little harder and shorter than a medium tooth brush. It has a small hole in the center that allows the water and dishwashing liquid to saturate the brush. It works great.

I just soak the heads in tap water for a minute or two, then use a nylon bristle brush to get the crud out of the grooves, then wipe them dry with a towel. It just takes a few minutes to do this, and it is my "labor of love." I do this after just about every round or range session.

Once a week give them a bath with warm water and dish washing soap.

On occassion I polish them with flitz metal polish - for the irons and the soles of the woods. :love:

For the painted areas of the woods I recently started using liquid glass - works very well. :love:

I soak the corner of a towel and use it to clean any dirt throughout the round. This typically keep my clubs clean throughout the round so I don't have to clean them when I'm done. If needed, I also carry a potato brush and soapy water. Jet Dry works great to keep the your woods looking pretty. I'm looking at investing in a bench grinder and buffing pad.

During a round:

Traditional golf towel with one corner soaking wet. Wipe with that if really muddy otherwise a golf brush to take the big chunks off... lol. Just started using a Micro fiber towel that I picked up at Martin's in Myrtle Beach, amazing at how well it works. Recently saw similar towels at Costco though they dont have a golf towel hook for attaching to the bag. This one I use more for grass and dry dirt.

After the round:

I use a bucket of warm soapy water. Soft bristle brush to clean the grips first. Then I soak the heads in the bucket while I clean each one with a soft bristle tooth brush. Dry with a very soft terry cloth towel and final step is to wipe with a terry towel sprayed with WD-40.

I've found washing the grips really seems to help them last.
