Custom M stamp vs Scratch custom

plus1

My take - with Mizuno you get a great OEM iron with a lot of bells n whistles on. With Scratch you get a totally custom iron for you, and they will go out of their way to ensure its perfect. While you can get custom grinds on the Mizunos, you do not get the customer service. B - you know Ari will work around the clock to get you the best possible iron!

believe me i do know that p!!!! Ari is the shiz! that truely is were scratch are better, however.................

to be honest as far as customizations etc go i see no difference in what mizuno are offering and scratch! both offer grinds, and shape, topline customisations, finish etc etc

so what exactly do u mean by scratch will totally customize.... am i missing somethinggg?

Bernard,

I give you the award for the biggest Ho of all the under 18 crowd.

You have a set of the Proto Cb's already, how do you like them and why do you feel you need the blades?

What company has the finish you like best?

What club looks best to your eye that you have seen pics of?

Is resale value important to you?

There are more companies than you may think who do totally custom work:

Scratch Golf Co. ( 1018 Himeji )

Blade Golf Co. ( Miura )

Traditional Golf Co. ( 1020 Himeji )

Mizuno Custom Grinds ( Japanese S25C grain flow forged )

So TSG and its sponsors got you covered!

I would take custom mizuno in a heartbeat IMO. Mizuno has a cleaner

finish, better grinds, and also IMO have a more solid feeling at impact. Also in the long term Mizuno have a higher resale value down the road. This is because even though scratch is a good product, they are almost unknown, so the resale would be a world of difference. Even both these are great clubs, but when comparing the two especailly with the new custom options from Mizuno, I would have to give the choice to Mizuno.

chris....im 20 lol! but little difference im a super ho!

have been waiting ans still am waiting on the cbs to come in. and when they do come my ad is gonna use them.......im just gonna try them to judge the feel etc of the scratch to see how i like them!

love the look of the mizzys the best and the fact that they now offer TSGers customisations gives me further incentives to order them.

I have a set of the Scratch Classic blades they are ok irons in my opinion but seem to be a little too light and the attention to detail in these irons werent the best.....mine I think were a set from the bad batch that were finished here in the states....The lines on the face are not straight at all....and after playing them for quite awhile now the quality isnt all that good...but like i said these were bought awhile ago and from what i've read and seen the quality now is alot better than what i got...hoping to trade in my old ones from a new set if ARI is willing....

as for the MIzzy's though i've never had a set of the custom irons but i must say they look amazing in all the pics i've seen and the resale value is one of the best.....if i had the cash between scratch or the mizzy i think i would go mizzy just because of the quality and the main reason RESALE VALUE...dont get me wrong like i said the scratch irons of today are great clubs but mine werent the best.....just my 2 cents....

I think they are same in terms of how you can customize, but very different in how people will look at them. Mizunos people will go "nice irons", and Scratch people will go "nice irons, what are they?" I think with Scratch you can have something different from others, and that's a plus for me. If it's going to be Mizuno though, their quality is probably better, although Scratch has improved a whole lot. I've experienced their previous sets and the new ones (2005) are way way better than their previous offerings.

All depends on what you want...

Why not buy both? That'd solve the problem.

Seriously, I love Mizuno forgings. I've had mine for years and they continue to amaze when I hit them solid. A custom 3 tier set would be the bomb.

I also appreciate the appeal of a full on custom set from specialists like Ari or Paul at Blade Golf. I think Ari's antique chocolate finish is wonderful. It's nice for people to walk up to your bag and wonder what you've got in it.

The Scratch set would probably play a bit softer, just because the steel they use is softer, but it'd also probably wear faster. If you were concerned about wear, you could just order the satin chrome finish. Might not look as hot as the others, but it's protect the club a tad better.

In the end, if I had the where-with-all, I'd really get them both. :money:
