Finally Gauge Japan makes a Killer Wedge!

Recommended Posts

I was never a big fan of Gauge Japan wedges until now...

The recent CNC milled 4th anniversary's were not so hot in my book. They just released the new 2005 Forged GAS1 wedge that was designed to accompany the new NC-1 forged Cb's later this year.

I put a 53 and 58 into play today and realized its a wedge version of the Balde putter :surprize:

Soft forged Carbon Steel, not the double baked finish hardener they used in the past.

The Entire Forged Series feels the same, from wedges, putter and on to Irons. Mega, Giga, Balde, Terra. They all have that sweet "3RTNC"

soft carbon steel feel They were all made in japan under the same exact tolerances to insure consistency.

Five grooves on this wedge were CNC milled very sharp, This wedge will put a good amount of spin on the ball. You will notice a big difference, especially on fast greens...

Check them out:

Chris, I'll second your review! Believe it or not I played my new 53 and 58 wedges today for the first time and loved 'em. They offer a bit larger profile than the standard "players" wedge which I like. And the "bite" on the green is terrific. I was playing a Nike One Black today and it was stopping on a dime. There was a small amount of "shredding" of the cover of the ball, but not significant. These will go well with my Gauge irons.

Chris, am I reading and seeing correctly :surprize: only "five grooves were CNC milled". Why didn't they just do the whole face? And finally.....ugggghhhh....how much? :smile2: and what's the bounce angles on the wedges?

Yes only 5 because any more would cause too much spin or damage to the ball.

The Bounce is 8* on the 52 & 53. Its 10* on the 56 & 58 degree wedges.

Is there such thing as too much spin? :smile2: I like throwing darts at pins!

Damn....that 52-08 is tempting . I must repeat 200 times tonight....I love my Zodia...I love my Zodia!
