man i cant wait for these things ive been drooling on them for months, they look so nice. CONGRATS that might just be the deal of the century. Your lucky I didnt see them I would have bought them back for $420+ myself. LOL The Sweeper grind is designed for someone who takes a thin divot to no divot at all. The Digger grind or Anti-Dig grind as it is often refered to is designed to combat digging for someone who takes a good divot. It sounds to me like this is the grind that would work best for you. If you have a pic or 2 from the listing that shows the sole I should be able to tell you which one it is. The difference between the retails and the prototypes is the stampings. The retails have our S logo stamped on the back muscle along with SCRATCH and AR-1 stamped in the cavity. The protos have the S logo only stamped in the cavity. There was 2 runs of protos the first had a normal more block font for the numbers while the second run has our normal more styles numbers on the sole. Best of luck with them and be sure to post a review!!!

Breal
Question? I was wondering why golfers buy these nice irons for like 1200 dollars, then turn around and dump them for like 450-500 dollars, almost before there played ? This has me stumped a little. +TourSpecGolfer
not sure, maybe they just aren't right for them I think he is talking about re-sale value being so low, most people who buy $1250.00 sets of irons sell them for at least $900+. good clubs though. Have to admit I'm a little stumped as well. If I bought a set of irons for that price, you can rest assured that I've already ascertained their resale value to be at least $900. The fact that there are barely used sets available for $500 or less is truly surprising. I can't comment on Scratch irons per se as I've never owned a set but that kind of depreciation can't be good for business. At $1250 retail wouldn't that mean that cost is in the $500-600 range? If so, Ari should indeed buy back any sets for less than $500!
Godfather1
I think the problem is that people don't know about scratch so unless you hang around on forums your not going to hear much about it.
gth1017
I started a thread on the very subject at golfshack--some good thinking on why very good clubs go so cheaply on resale. To summarize: no one knows about them (no marketing); each set is custom built for the owner so if I'm going to spend big $$$ why not get them customized for myself. Worth reading the thread for yourself.

The problem is the same regardelss, Scratch, Blade, Traditional etc. Small boutique club companies equipment takes a huge hit on resale. While the quality may be as good or better than a big OEM, there is no name recognition. Even Muira which has a big name in the industry does not resell well relative to purchase price. KZG is another example. Figure to lose 50% at least.
b33r
well got em this morning and am going to play with em in an hour, lol. they came with my least fav. shaft and grips. thats ok i can handle x100's but i am a rifle guy,so unless they are magic x100's i'll prolly reshaft em with 6.0's. i will write a follow up after a day or two of playing them. werd up
atomic
hi sorry all i was posting under my roomates handle and didnt even have a clue, lol. ok i have a couple of rounds under the belt with these now,and oh...my...god! lets put it this way they have put all my other sets of irons on ebay, lol. heres what they knocked out srixons i201 titliest 690cb mp-30 tm 300's [my back up now] tm rac tp combo these things are fabulous. whatever grind i have on these is perfect,i am getting a little more shallow of a divot with a longer "pelt" meaning the club is staying down through the ball longer and produciing more spin.like i said earlier i hate x-100's ,reason being i think there to boardy and harsh.these heads are so soft i dont even notice the x100's and that has never happened with any head and this shaft.i can't imangine how smooth they will be when i install some rifles, wow.as an extra geek bonus my last name starts with an S and so i like em even more, lol.i have been receiving lots of questions out here on maui about them, usually when i drop the price on em they look at me like im crazy and i have to tell em what i paid for em,and then its ok. whatever i would have paid 1300 for em no prob. if any of you geta chance to get these, jump on it,they are unreal. Dicksy
Have had mine for a couple of months now, they are in Satin. These are just what I've been looking for.... soft forging with a bit more off-set to give that bit more forgiveness. Long irons sooooo easy to hit. If any criticism would be that there's too much off-set on the PW. Mine came with DG SL 300's - i've changed them to project x 6.0's. Am going to change back as even though the px's gave a buttery soft feel at impact they messed up the swingweight and I can't get on to it. sfgolfer
It's totally a question of perceived value. Someone will trip over their own di*k to get a set of used 735.CMs but will totally dismiss a high-end custom product - either because it's not made for them, they've never heard of it, or both. I can tell you it ain't a quality issue. I mean, I basically quit being a club ho' once I got my Scratch CBs. 'Nuff said. FWIW, I worked with Ari over the phone and specified the shafts, grips, and grinds. Truthfully, I'd never seen the CB heads in person. My set up is below. I have to say that IMO they are the most beautiful clubs I've ever seen (of course, I've never seen the NC-1s :smile2: ). More to the point, the clubs' performance has exceeded what were very, very high expectations. I'm a big downloader and these handground Ishiharas just obliterate the turf. Frankly, Ari and his team at Scratch were also awesome. They got me the clubs before the stated delivery date. Unreal... You find them out there for under $500, pick 'em up. plus1
have to say d**ksy, you hit those suckers very well with the sl300s , not a bad decision goin back to them! sfgolfer, i had a set of the scratch cbs and they definately were very forgiving and very much a feel club! the grind on them was super as it glided through the turf! however from a different point of view i think looking down at the nc1s inpires me with more confidence, hence the reason i changed! both irons have different feel both awesome in their own way!
sfgolfer
Good point and glad to it from someone who has tried them both. I have to tell you, the CBs are perfect for me at address and everywhere else. The thought of anything better seems almost unfathomable  . net/net: looks like yet another reason to get a set of NC-1s in my hands so I can check them out! Guest
how does the super soft steel hold up on the 2005 cb's?
sfgolfer
My clubs are very new, so I don't have long-term experience with 1018. They are supersoft :smile2: How has Scratch held up for you other guys?
plus1
they actually wear pretty good! i was very surprized at how little bag chatter thay had especially because of the 1018! not sure about long term because i sold mine. also the japan finish definately seemed to be a much better job than the usa, it seem to be a better colour, seemed to last ( ie the old usa finish seemed to wear away! whereas the japan finiash was solid!).
