folks, help me out here ...., just call Callaway and found out nippon shaft is not available for X-Tour!!??

Can anyone tell me if it can be reshafted or not? Or should I just go for Project X? This really drives me crazy especially after I spend weeks to make up my mind and come out what I want for my new iron set....., and now it turns out I am back to where I started it. :wah:

They can be reshafted. Don't go with Project X unless you are a very aggressive hitter. Those shafts are hard to load.

Looks like the person on the phone was right about not offering NS shafts... See this shaft selection for the XTour... http://www.callawaygolf.com/en/techspecs/S...aspx?product=74

I've had many clubs reshafted with shafts the the OEMs were either unaware of/didn't think could fit/or both (i.e., put Harrison steel in Titleist 690s, etc.).

DO NOT BELIEVE WHAT CALLAWAY TELLS YOU. They 1) may not know 2) may really be saying that it voids the warranty in an effort to protect their authorized custom shaft partners. The guys from Shreveport seem pretty knowledgeable so ask them.

If you don't get an answer, send me a PM and I'll get the answer for you.

i was talking to a callaway tour van member last xmas and he told me that the reson they could not install nippon was due to the head weights of the x tours! he said that they are quite light heads and the combo of light head and light shaft wouldnt work! if you were considering the nippons in the x tour id advise some extra weight in the cavity!

ps sf callaway definately have heard of nippons as the ns series comes standard in the fusion irons.....which might i add are exceptional heavy heads!

folks, I've checked Callaway Japan Website, it shows that the Callaway Japan does offer nippon shaft for x tour in japan. as I've checked with Chris a week ago, he told me that the only different between US x tour and japan's is only the coler of insert. so, ........ :fever:

maybe I should just get the japan one from Chris instead ...., yet, don't really like the color of it.

good find! if you can get them with the nippons factory installed go 4 it! plus its always cool having something a little different.....ie different medalons

+1, how do you think? should I go for PX 5.5, or nippon for my next irons? I really dislike the coloer of Japan X tour, but if I need to get nippon shaft, it seems like I have no choice ....

fhantom have you tried either?

what sort of ball flight do you currently achieve ?

i love both the px shafts and the nippons.....

IMHO i think the nippons feel is unmatched by any other shaft on the market.....beautiful kick through the ball. My only problem was that both sets i have had where too light. next time i try nippon i will go for the 1150s.

the px shafts dont have anywhere as much feel as the nippons, they feel more wooden, however they do feel super solid to me. i found i strike the ball much more consistent with the px.......with a lot better flight.

if you are going for the japan x tours with nippon i would suggest the 1050s or 1150s......as these will perform better in terms of trajectory.

also although you do not like the cosmetics of the japan version, if it is nippons you want or play best with then........you have to forget about how pretty or attractive your set is and think about whats best for your game! choosing the correct shaft may save you some :money: whhen playin your buddy for a few bucks!

thanks, +1, I've nippon 950 the other day, I think I like it so much - I can swing much easier but get the same distance and high ball flight, yet, I've heard lots of good thing about PX, even I have hard time to find a px to try it first, as a rifle user for the past 7 years, I do have faith on it. anyhow, how to you compare rifle 6.0 vs px 5.5 /nippon 950? :fever:
