+TourSpecGolfer
The new Gauge Japan GAS1-SQBT features the exact same grind and profile as the GAS1 Forged wedge except a flat black finish with a full face of square grooves and milling marks. Review and comparison images against the GAS2 coming shortly.

Lance99
USGA legal? Good question. I dig on the dark coloring. Is it a rusting face like the GAS1?
+TourSpecGolfer
USGA legal? These are standard square grooves. Good question. I dig on the dark coloring. Is it a rusting face like the GAS1? When a wedge has a black finish after it wears the entire head will rust.
plus1
chris i take it this will wear like the face on the gas1 forged?

plus1
just got mine through the door, and took them out on a trial. the bouce grind etc is identical to the gas1 forged which has made me soooo happy! the face on these wedges is unbelievable, it has what i would call shiny mill marks! these grooves are super super deep and i did find myself cleaning out extracts of the ball covering from the grooves! looks like these will be spinning machines!!! :surprize:

karjar
Yeah, starting to realize a few more dollars to get stuff here faster might be the way to go. I think I am too impatient :). Got my wife a Callaway 9 wood 4 days after ordering the putter, and paid UPS 2-3 day, and she had it in 2 days. Those wedges do look nice, I was initially contemplating the regular GAS 1. Are the grinds the same, just different finish and milling?

It's Canada's port of entry customs that is giving you a delay. The inspection rate there is 90%+ where as U.S is 16%. Those who wait get the good stuff. Limited GD product must be secured the day its released If not you guys would never see it. In regards to your question the grinds are the exact same, and correct the difference is the finish, milling and full face of square grooves instead of the 5 CNC milled. karjar
Thanks guys. Chris, yeah Canadian customs is making sure they have job security. how long will the Wedges be available? I just bought 3 new Vokeys, and prior to that the Mizuno raws, and before that the CG10s. Love the feel of the CG10s but still play better with the Vokeys (they are all retail models). Which ones might feel closest to CG10s?
karjar
for those with the Gas wedges, if you have ever tried the Cleveland CG10, feel wise how would these compare. I like the soft feel of the cg10s, but play better with my retail vokeys.
+TourSpecGolfer
After quite a few rounds with these wedges, they are not as soft as the GAS1 forged yet they are not as hard as the Titleist spin milled wedges. I think when adding milling marks to the face of a wedge it gives it that effect. The SQBT has the same forged steel yet feels a bit more firm during contact. These are keepers and will stay in my bag. I do have the Miura WMF-03, Crews Triple sole milled face, Zodia Premium Chrome Wedge, and Zodia Milled face wedges coming all in the same box late this month. all 58* with S200's so it should make for a very interesting showdown and pic session. Now that will be fun chris!!!!! as for the feel of the SQBT, i hope it didnt come across that they were hard! they are IMO softer than any wedge offered on the retail / domestic market. i really just meant to say that they were not as soft as the GAS1s! karjar
My finding is that they are crisp. they feel firm like vokeys and yet softer. In one other post, I likened it to the feel of a cameron Platinum putter compared to a studio design. the platinum can feel firm, yet it is soft with more of a click to it. I like the crispness of these SQBTS, yet the feel is more like a a nice soft wedge, and as mentioned above, this does not infer that they are hard, they are soft, but crisp.
