Phillip Alexander
Guys, there are lots and lots of driver heads from which to choose. There are even a number of categories the driver heads fall into: 1) OEMs like Taylor Made, Titleist etc 2) Tour issue OEM 3) Import like Tourstage, Srixon etc 4) Component like KZG 5) Component long drive Bang, SMT etc 6) Component long drive tour issue (yes, I really did see a tour issue bang for sale on ebay) My question is this, why did you choose the driver head you currently play? Some of the areas that could be covered are: 1) Distance 2) Accuracy 3) Feel 4) Shape 5) Cosmetics I understand shaft also has a large role to play, however shaft has been covered in previous threads. Very interested in the feedback!
plus1
All depends on the hoing mood im in. However since venturing into the import gear, i dont bother with tour stuff any more. Reason why? because now i figure that the tour gear is specifically made for a player, a player that has different swing characteristics and build and ability than myself........so i feel its pointless! The japan import equipment that i have been getting off chris is IMO better quality, more customized to ME, as well as unique. From making this transition ive noticed especially with the driverDISTANCE gains. From talking with chris i realised i needed to go for a softer shaft - stop being so proud - and up the loft on my driver along with slightly higher torque for my game. this combination has definately improved my driving and made the game more enjoyable. Most recently im ordering a srixon 505 with red diamana!!!!!! hope she is as sweet as the current viq450!

Very interested in the feedback! You need to add 6) Product allegience..... some people are 'loyal' to one specific make e.g Tileist have lots of died-in-the-wool followers. Personally, Tourstage Xdrive 405 at the moment, because it has the best compromise of all 5 categories and it's Tourstage!..... I prefer black heads, I love the 'turbo rubber/foamed' type of sound/feel, the shape and leading edge are 'just right'. It is a classic no fuss 'players' clubhead IMHO. No gimmicky colour panels, adjustable grommets or tour version 'smoke and mirrors'...... The only thing I dislike is the headcover, a bit too 'Jetsons' for my liking.... BigEasy
Based on my experience with other X-Drives, I somehow feel like TourStage conforming drivers are SHORTER than drivers in the US market like the Comp and G5. What do you guys think? The X-Drive 435 looks great but I want to make sure it's as long as my Comp 8.5 w/ Diamana. :tsg_smilie_wah:
acrazygolfer
I tried the 405 with AD M65(s) and it was not the right head/shaft combo for me. However, the head does feel great on contact.

plus1
From joining this site Tourspecgolfer has turned me from being a TOUR Equipment ho into being an IMPORT Ho!!!!! and to be honest im soooooo happy he did! :tsg_smiley_yes: In my time as a golfer i have tried an unreal amount of equipment and out of them all including some very rare tour stuff, the japanese equipment chris recommends is in a different league!!! on chris's recommendation i have thrown pride out the window and increased the loft on my driver as well as softening the flex of the shaft i use and increasing the torque. this has helped me hit longer drives more easily, with a more consistent draw shape!!! currently i am using a tourstage viq 450. this is a great looking head, very similar looking to a tm head with a great paint job! however the feel is unlike any other ive tried.....the turbo rubber inserts make this one of the softest drivers ive hit! it never feels like you have hit a ball!!!!! the 9.5 degree loft along with a low kick shaft gives me the optimal launch angle. currently im real happy with the driver, although being a ho im always looking for something new......im very very tempted by the x drive 435 which also has the turbo rubber! :tsg_smilie_wink: however rumours of a gauge driver are making me sweat!!!! :tsg_smiley_laughatyou:
