Posted December 24, 200519 yr comment_111571 I know many golfers who dream to have a tempo like Ernie, smooth and seamless. Here are some swing scans open for your comments.
December 24, 200519 yr comment_111574 That's an exact replica of my swing in my mind. :tsg_smilie_wink: On camera is a very different story! :tsg_smilie_confused: :tsg_smilie_wah: Edited December 24, 200519 yr by dcc14
December 24, 200519 yr comment_111582 I was wondering when these pictures were taken. If you notice in the bottom 3 pictures his left foot flies open after impact. Is this a result of his knee problems? How does he get that left foot open without the loss of power and accuracy? As a pro I would say that he just hit a ball high and right, knowing Mr. Els I would say it was acually a controled power fade to about 310. I do agree, this is the picture I have in my head when I approach the ball. I would also have to say that his swing is the most beautiful swing in golf.
December 24, 200519 yr comment_111585 I bet Ernie plays with the low torque shaft because he released the club late, below the waist. Also look at where the shaft bends, more toward the grip.
December 24, 200519 yr comment_111594 What I love is that clearing of the hips. Hard to tell with the black pants but look at where his butt is at impact (as evidenced by the fact you can see the yardage book in his right pocket in picture 9). Totally cleared at impact.

The thing that impresses me about Ernie,(And the rest of the big five) Is the amount of width that they all maintain between their forearms, as well as their knees through impact, all the way to the finish. Power. Power. Power
December 26, 200519 yr comment_111672 And to think, Ernie never took golf very seriously as a kid and even a teenager. One of the most coveted swings in all of golf and he wanted to be a pro Rugby player instead. Makes you admire his all around atheleticism that allows him to be so sharp and so powerful. This also gives him that good touch around the green.
