Cameron Aftermarket Refinishing

Hello All,

I was wandering if any on you fine people could inform me of a good place to get a Cameron putter refinished aftermarket? I work for a golf store and can get a pretty good deal from Titleist to get my JAT restored to original (actually I can get it done for cost), but I'd rather just get the head refinished in like a 3x black finish rather than get the entire club reworked. I went to blackoxideservices.com, but they quoted me a price that is about $10 or so higher than it costs me to go through Titleist, which I find is much too much, because Titleist will pretty much make everything new on the putter for $10 less than this place charges me for just refinishing the head (assuming I remove the shaft first). I was thinking something like $60 or so would be more reasonable, but would a price like that reflect poor workmanship? Please let me know your feedback and experiances. Thanks.

Titleist will only restore it to the original finish. If you want to stick with a black finish then I'd suggest going that route and saving some money. If you actually want a 3XB finish, I've heard that black oxide services are the best. I had bought an after market Red X which the seller had refinished by BOS and the finish was first rate. Saving $10 may not be worth it in the long run. So go Titleist if you want original service or BOS if you want a new finish.

I had a JAT refinished by Titleist. the first time I used it the finish came off the sole. I sent it back to Titleist who refinished it again at no fee. This time they put a gloss finish on the sole, more like the studio range, but left the rest of the putter in its original black. this worked out just great. :tsg_smiley_yes:

There is a big difference between sending it to titleist and sending it to the scotty cameron studio. Titleist stamps them as a refinish and will only do the original finish. The studio does not stamp refinish and will only do original or the platinum plus finish. Bos does the 3x black and the oil can aftermarket finishes. Bos does a great job on the finishes. Have had several done and they have all been great. Well worth the extra $10.

One other that I have used was Tom Slighter at slighter golf. I am having him take a ss 1.5 beach and make it a welded neck centershaft and then 3x black. Hope to have back soon and I will post some pics.

I always thought that S.C used Black Oxide Services to do their black finishes?

They did up until a couple years ago...something happened. I can't remember exactly, but I think it had to do with some blank Scotty heads being ripped off my someone. Now I believe they do their own...

In house black oxide by SC is highly unlikely given the toxicity of the chemicals used & permits requirements ... but then you may be correct. What do I know!

Tom Slighter at www.slightergolf.com, great person to deal with and top notch quality.
