rymorrison99
I had previously read that Tiger Wood's bends his sand wedge from 55 degrees to 56 degrees... what is the point of doing this. Why not orginally make @ 56... smaller club head?
DUBBED
He maybe likes the shape of the 55, maybe NIKE doesn't make a 56 in that model and they said it's the 55 bent to 56 so people think they're buying the same club as Tiger. Nobody on here is going to know the actual reason behind it, but if you get a chance to ask Tiger make sure you post his answer on here. Ha! That's funny! Wouldn't we all like to sit down and have a drink with Tiger, just talk about whatever. I guess that's why we have John Daly. the1stunner
Other way, when Tiger had vokeys, he bent his 58 to 56 so the leading edge sat closer to the ground. When he had 588s he had two 56 degree sand wedges, one was bent to 60 and had a TON of the trailing edge ground off. This was when he first turned pro and was fairly steep with his swing. Go read a golf digest some time (preferrably january 2003) or a book titled "how I play Golf" by Eldrik Woods, it all in there. sly_sam
One spec of Tiger's bag that he has changed for good, and this is coming from his mouth, is that there will be no more 2 iron at all. He hits the 5 wood farther, and he can use it for so many different shots( high, low and such) that he's said that the wood just outplays the iron. As for his wedges, he probably wants more bounce like another one of you said. Makes sense enough to me. Goldenhawk
I hear Tiger hits that T-40 Tour 5 wood around 240 yards. Does anyone know if the T-40 is still available?

Makes sense enough to me. are you sure about "there will be no more 2 iron at all"? i've read where he says he travels with 15 clubs now, both the 2 iron and 5 wood and will chose the club per course and conditions. I hear Tiger hits that T-40 Tour 5 wood around 240 yards.Does anyone know if the T-40 is still available? t-40 and t-40 tour can be found on ebay. some golf shops still have them around new for next to nothing. i've also seen a few (hate to say this) at target. the t-40 woods were hit or miss. people loved the feel/sound or hated it. another complaint some said was that the club differed so much between the different lofts. although, it didn't bother me, i will agree. i had a +3 (13*), 3 (15*), 4 (17*) and 5 (19*) and they all felt and sounded like completely different clubs. even so, they all performed great for me. still have the 3 and 5. Oops my mistake, I thought I saw his 5 wood on the golfworld cover. Why would he play such crappy clubs? Oh yeah because he is a nike staff player. :tsg_smilie_cool: Tiger Woods Dubai Desert Classic Ball: Nike One Platinum Driver: Nike SasQuatch, 8.5 degrees 3-wood: Nike Ignite T-60, 15 degrees 5-wood: Nike T-40, 19 degrees Irons (3-PW): Nike Forged Blade Wedges: Nike Pro Combo (56 degrees); Nike Forged (60 degrees) Putter: Scotty Cameron by Titleist Tiger

sly_sam
"One thing I've done this year is pretty much take the 2-iron out of my bag and replaced it with a 5-wood. I think the last time I carried it was at the Dunlop Phoenix tournament in Japan. I can get the ball up in the air higher with a 5-wood and hit it 250 yards, about 10 yards further than my 2-iron." This coming from his monthly E-mail newsletter. Yeah, he's not using it anymore at all. He refers to the five wood as being more vesatile and easier to hit. Goldenhawk
If he wants versitility, Tiger should try the Slingshot Hybrids.
golfernut78
well, then he has changed his tune. a month or two ago he was quoted in golf magazine that he would travel with 15 and decide once he arrived at the course. if he is saying its out, then i guess its out.
