+TourSpecGolfer
Is this a look into what could be on the Horizon for Callaway and its next product release in the States? 6 months? 2 Years? Callaway makes top end equipment for the Japanese market cause they are willing to pay top dollar for the best technology. The Forged ERC Hot Irons... Too Solid, and now the ERC 3 driver with a traditional hosel, full titanium head and a crown made of chemical milled Ti technology so its ultra light without that odd sound or feeling the carbon based models give. Even the stock WD-1000 shaft contains 4 Tri-axial Weave technology like Axiv and Rombax use. Everything is pretty top notch and its my best guess this new hottie is a look into the future of callaway golf!
Breal
Very nice callaway does really like to pay top dollar for the best, no matter the cost it seems.. Nice look with the traditional hosel... This is conforming right ??
Goshinboku
exactly what i was gonna ask, Chris is this conforming? cause that seems to be the way everything is going even in japan with the SLE rule and what not soon approaching
bennytheblade21
This is from the tsg pro shop Description : Now Available! The latest Japan Only USGA conforming Callaway driver! Enter the ERC 3 CF which is a full titanium head featuring a 0.45 thin crown super hot USGA legal face 450cc head size with amazing shaft options to choose from. This driver will have a square face and is geared toward mid to low handicappers. This is a pre-sale listing for the hottest driver of 2006! Enter the ERC III.. Hey Chris, If you were to rank the top 10 to 5 import drivers right now where would this one land. Also how credible of a new technology is the chemical milling, in comparison with other new technologies. Also is this driver light, would the golfer that likes a heavier driver steer away from this? Thanks in advance, Blade Edited June 5, 2006 by bennytheblade21
sly_sam
The shape looks so compact to many of the options out there right now, I could hardly believe this was a 450 cc driver. At least from the pics.

I agree sam the first time I saw this I thought that this was one of the smaller drivers out there, than i looked back at the description :tsg_smilie_whistle: For once this is a callaway that appeals to me!! +TourSpecGolfer
Yes it is USGA conforming. As far as weight goes its stock D2 with the PT-6 or 6V05. IMO its one of the top drivers from the Japanese market. I have not hit it enough to say where it ranks on that list and as always there are different strokes for different folks. +TourSpecGolfer
This club has 27 holes under its belt now. Its knocked what I thought was the best driver on the market out of my bag. ( prgr T3 black ). Same PT-6 shaft at the same length and swing weight and the difference was more than 10 yards. :tsg_smiley_yes: The ERC3 is longer than my non conforming drivers and has a sound and feel much better than anything callaway has ever produced. bogeydog
Chris, How do you think it would perform with a Axiv shaft?
bogeydog
Chris, Can this be purchased head only?

+TourSpecGolfer
No these are not available heads only. Axiv is as good as the person the shaft fits. I have had customers who buy axivs that dont fit them and the result is not good, but the guys who find the proper shaft for their swing get amazing results. So it really depends on your swing and how it matches the shaft. I have one of these with a rombax 6V05 stiff on the way if anyone is interested, I can discount it at 875.00 shipped for TSG members. If you have over 50 posts 825.00 shipped. There is a serious shortage right now in Japan of the ERC3, especially custom shaft options like the rombax.
