plus1
Hey guys im very interested in seeing what the TSGers favourite Japan Only Utility/ Hybrid is? There is a wide selection to choose from, all of which i think offer something more unique in terms of looks and feel over the USDM products. Some of the contenders may be - PRGR Zoom 320 cx PRGR Zoom 220i Fourteen 106 UT Fourteen Hi 585 G Field GFT Utility Mizuno UX1 and UX2 Taylormade TP Driving Iron Tourstage X-UT Tourstage VIQ - UT XXIO 4th Gen UT I personally have been using the PRGR Zoom 320 cx 20* for nearlly a year now. The feel from this wee club is very strange, almost like an old persimmons wood, yet performs very smooth and requires little effort to work the ball high or low and draw or fade, taking advantage of the most up to date technology. I have been so impressed with this club from all terrain ie tight lies, rough, wet rough, sand.......you name it she can dig her way through and out lol! I am currently using the stifff PRGR shaft at the moment which seems to work fine however i would like to experiment with an upgrade shaft............as a ho is never content lol! +TourSpecGolfer
I have two favorites. The GFT feels and performs the best IMO, its made of steel with a 455 miraged face my only problem with it is it was too hot, it went to far and almost matched my 4 wood. 20* vs another brand 20* the GFT flys more than 15 yards further for me. I am now using the X-UT, its very good with its open face and helps me stay off the left side which is a prob i have with many UT clubs. its feel is very pure but its not as forgiving as the GFT. Im not big on hybrids so i may not be the best person to answer this.
Blader-X
Although I carry two (depending where I'm playing), I have been somewhat luke warm to hybrids. I messed around with a Titleist 503H but really didn't like the look of it. Same with other utility clubs which look like boxes stuck on the end of a shaft. I usually start with the look of a club. I can't bring myself to hit something if it doesn't look right to me eye. I like the TRC's I have simply because its a compact head, like a small wood, but the rails in the bottom of the club really help it perform from any lie. I've used these clubs from fairway, rough and sand. Of all that you listed the one that really stands out for me is the G-Field. It looks the most versatile and the closest thing to what would suit my eye. Plus, knowing how well my G-Field wedges perform and feel, the GFT would probably blow away my utilities. I'd love to hear other people's take on these clubs.
plus1
yeah, the g field utility does look awesome, and i can testify that the g field woods do travel! i had the 4 wood with a pt 7 shaft and it really went out there. The only problem as Chris suggested would be that the distance would be too great and rather than filling a gap in the bag it would would just cause more confusion. I would consider the tity 503H as more of a driving iron. and in terms of driving irons i would only use one on a links course.......In this case i would love to rty out the PRGR 220i! i think she looks sweet Chris i am curious what you think is the best hybrid shaft on the market currently? And as well as that do Drev / Mach Line do a hybrid shaft?
hornyjuan
TM TP Driving Iron is solid. Goes 235 and straight as an arrow. Get's up off the ground fast and drops soft. Shape is also very appealing for a driving iron. The only gripe is it has a hollow smack feel. Edited September 8, 2006 by hornyjuan

plus1
i had the UX2 prior to the prgr 320 cx and i found that it was just too hard to work the ball. the UX2 just went soo straight - it also went a bit too low for hitting long shots into par 4s or par 5s to get any stop on the ball. Although this is a top class UT, it just wasnt for me.......!
BigEasy
My choice is the 220i. I now have both the 4+ and 3 with Nippon shafts. I had 320CX before these clubs. They played well but they just felt and sounded weird, which is important to me.
xxio
3 year old NikeT100, very picky shaft wise though because it is a low launcher. Feel is very "Tourstage" though. Look is so square and full face scoring lines close the deal.
pucci
I love my x-ut, really really love it, got a 3 iron one, thinking about getting a 2 or 1 iron....not sure though - as my 3 is my go to club - and if I had more options........ Looks simliar to the sonartec md, but I owned one of those and it plan sucked....
gocchin
I have two ViQ's a 1st gen U3 19* and a new ViQ U4 22*. Both are pretty easy to hit. I'm itching to try the G-Field utilities... if I can get around to getting some. :tsg_smilie_cool:
+TourSpecGirl
Since its release like 3 years ago, I had the TourStage F-UT in my bag. I love that club. Easy to hit from just about any lie and nice soft landing. However, the TourStage ViQ is also really good just like the F-UT but less vibrations at impact. I've never tried the X-UT as of yet. I am too happy with these!!
