danhaden
Love the new EPON J's, really. And must admit it would be fun to have something rare, but why not the J33's instead? They are....... -forged by EPON -made in Japan -satin finished -1020 carbon steel -and available for $450 brand new online Not trying to start another Ozik TP-7 debate over $$$$, but can someone help me see the light? Thanks Love the new EPON J's, really. And must admit it would be fun to have something rare, but why not the J33's instead? Thanks Meant forged by Endo, of course. Feels different, different design, different finish and overall different clubs. Endo doesnt equal Endo, I could say why not some of the Callaway, or Titleist because they are made by Endo. About 50% of the top tier forged designs with complicated features are made by endo because they can do it. Endo also sells pre-forged product to other factories that build golf clubs. EPON is the only premium golf brand ENDO 100% owns. hope that makes sense, if you have any questions let me know.
dorkman53
I haven't hit the J33 CB's, but I had a set of the J33 Combos, and currently have the Epon Pro II's, and there is absolutely no comparison in the feel. The Epons have a heavy, solid but sweet feel. The J33 Combos felt "clicky", and nowhere near as sweet as the Epons. It could be the difference in shafts (Nippon 1150's in the Epons vs. Tour Concepts in the J33 Combos), but I have a lot tighter dispersion and better control with the Epons. It's just one person's experience, for whatever it is or isn't worth.
ajaykkr
so why no true blades under the EPON brand? do you think they will come out with one?
+TourSpecGolfer
so why no true blades under the EPON brand? do you think they will come out with one? Not sure only time will tell. The blade market is pretty small. I personally find no reason in playing a muscle back now days with so many great players CB's on the market. If their was an EPON blade what model MB would you like it to resemble most?
MCsub
I can't speak to the J33 CB, but as far as the Bridgestone Forged Cavity Back, I would put it up against anything. I have been meaning to do a simple post about what is the best club of any type or brand you have ever hit. Driver, iron, wedge, putter - whatever. For me the answer is easily the Bridgestone FCB. I have also played or tried Z101s, Gauge FCBs, G-Field NC1s and Miura CB201s. Those are also some good sets, and none of them is in the league of the Bridgestones for what I like. Mine are shafted by Joe on Tour Concepts, and the shafts suit me perfectly, so that also helps. They are so good I will absolutely buy a spare set if they are to be discontinued, so I will have them for the future. As Chris or someone else said, it comes down to feel and what you like. I read all of the hype about the Epon Technity driver so I tried one. I'll be real honest - it was easy to hit and long, but felt nothing like my X-Drive 435 or my Japanese R7. Very "spongy" at impact. I need a "solid" feel w/ my driver. So there is an example of what apparently appeals to the masses does not to me. So perhaps it is similar w/ the irons. I am sure the Epon irons are great, but not "better" than the Bridgestones. As far as fit, finish, etc, I am very pleased w/ the Bridgestones, but obviously could not speak to the Epons. I suspect the Epons have the edge there, but that has nothing to do w/ the overall performance IMO.
Blader-X
Great post, it just depends on one's personal likes. Like MCsub said, he likes the TourStage driver over the Epon. Myself, I am loving the way the Epon feels. To me now, to me; it feels solid. I know what MCsub is saying about the "spongy" feel but I personally like it. Liking it a little better than the ERC. Having said that, if Epon came out with blades like similar to the TourStage's with a very thin topline I might have to give them a look. Right now, I'm very happy with my irons. Golf is like anything else. If we all felt the same way about things it would be a very dull world.

I'd love to see a high-quality Japanese forging that resembles the original chrome Cleveland CG1 - thin topline, super narrow cambered sole, but a heavier, more bulbous muscle. In other words, a really compact head that demolishes turf and gets the ball in the air even with a 3/4 swing.
