phillypete
anybody wanna help me here.odyssey dfx 1100 or scotty cameron pro platinum laguna both great prices, not sure which one to get.lol Here's my opinion... Get the Laguna off ebay... try it out for a few rounds... if you don't love... sell it on ebay... if you work it right you may even be able to turn a profit... then get the dfx. shoe295
Putters are soooo personal...I still like Pete's idea even if you don't buy off ebay can still sell if you don't like and purchase the other one.. Speaking of golf stores..the kid at one of the Golf Shacks here told me TM doesn't make the 510TP anymore :surprize: ...I don't think I'll ask any more questions ..they did have 4 R7's but since it would have been into a net I didn't bother  ... My LPGA fanatsy girl, Paula Marti, is in position to cash a big check this week..if only I could figure a way for her to support me.. It's early, not enough caffeine, and I gotta go try out my new Driver..plus the air show is at the regional airport adjacent to the course I play so not only will I be playing today but get to see the show as well...you haven't lived til your standing over a 4 1/2 footer when a flight of F16's comes screaming overhead at tree top level..the old soldier in me wants to go jump in a bunker while the golfer in me stabs the putt 8 ft right and 12 ft long... :) :D

This old but current soldier as I can serve with the sirforce and the army knows what you mean . But a F-16 is nothing compared to the old F-111B going over your head on take off as you are about to putt . :surprize: Now that was something , my legs started to shake and I almost pissed my pants  But luckly I still made the birdie putt :smile2:
AKFLY
Putter :wah: :wah: :wah: :wah: I just had my personal worst putting experience. 9 -3 putts. :D :) For the first time in my life a putter left my bag with no return :money: Helps me out with some basic thoughts - I need to forget this experience that started late in my round Friday and killed me on Sunday. Holy 3 putts Batman! That sucks!!!!!!! I'm sorry to hear about anyones putting woes, were you using the white hot #1???? I had one that now resides in my best friend's bag. He ain't bad with it but I couldn't make anything with it. For all concerned about my dish duties, I'm down 4 strokes going into the back. We only played nine because of a dust storm of biblical proportions the match will continue next week.
shoe295
Ah AKfly you have my sympathy...when that crap starts happening it just crawls inside my head, makes itself at home, and proceeds to send my pulse racing, breathing shallows out, palms sweat, and I make a guy with the yips look smooth..nasty nasty business... fortunately it goes away..but damn what a nuisance...ruins my vocabulary every time Mike..airshow was very entertaining..the Thunderbirds were there..they were quite impressive, and loud..LOL :surprize:
AKFLY
White hot is wet and cold in the bottom of a pond on 18. Sorry for the outburst - I do feel bad about it. :surprize: I just spent an 1 hour putting inside as I am doing a work related project. let the truth be known - time to practice............. Alcap26
Don't feel bad AK...I will more than likely be haveing a "ceremony" for my cleveland lob wedge when my scratcvh arrives. I think I will get it next week or the week after. Getting a little impatient since it is getting ever so close to the 8 week mark...oh well great things come to those who wait and I am hoping this when my scratch arrives. I think my Cleveland will be dumped in depths of about 180 feet near the dam across the lake from my house. Although it might feel better to chuck the thing in a pond myself...hmm. How were the Z101's? Drills...I like the 3, 6, 9 drill. Putt in a line from three feet, go back three more feet, and then back three more. you cannot leave that spot until you make the tree without missing any. Work your way around the hole in a circle similar to the clock putting drill.

In college Kristin had to make 100 3 footers in a row before she could go home. To top it off when they got to 99 they had to step away and announce that it was their last putt. That's a great drill to strenghten the abs :smile2: Seriously though, I do it sometimes but use a much lower number like 25. Phil's clock drill has worked out pretty well for him, JAT. If all else fails get a new putter  Get a DOC :yuk: :yuk: :yuk:
Alcap26
Maybe I need to let my new Scratch wedge watch(when it arrives) when I melt the cleveland to see what happens when a wedge does me wrong.
shoe295
What a great idea...let the replacement see what's in store if he messes up...I like the melting better than the water....let it harden in a ring shape and you can turn it into a hat like Odd Job used in Goldfinger :surprize: putting woes...the only solution I know is to work on the 3-6 footers focusing on the stroke..I've always used a "tick-tock" head game..say tick to yourself on the backswing and tock as you come thru the ball making sure that the tock is firmer than the tick..prevents me from decelerating on the way thru the ball..which is the problem I tend to have..plus it gives me something to think about besides the last 4 footer I just gagged.. Alcap26
That would be good. Maybe I could keep my damn head down and stop coming up and out of the swing. I could also use the hat on opponents beating me coming down 18. That is one of my favorite movies.
HipCheck
AK, I feel for you, man. This has not been my best putting year at all. I've had a couple of great nines, but that's it. I had a 6 3-putt round twice. Even changing putters didn't help. This weekend I burned the edge on 6 putts!!!! But, I hit putts where I wanted. It's my reading of the greens that is woeful. How do I fix that? I have no friggin' clue! :wah:
Mike
chainsaw and shoe , I can't believe that you have not tried any clubs lately into a net :surprize: You get such a great reading from doing this so am really :surprize: I got to try a retail R7 into a net  and I think I will have to buy every one that the store has . Come on guys just give the net a chance and I know that you will just fall in love with the net  :bulls**t:
AKFLY
Al - the z101's are great. I did put the PX shafts in them, except for the PW shaft that I need to get. The Z's are softer than the TM300's, and they are forgiving. I do like them better as the head size is much more compact than the 300's. I need to get back to a range and hit the long irons. I am not getting the trajectory with the 3 irons that I was with the TM300. I guess I really need to get a good routine for practicing my putting. Both on Friday and Sunday I just did not take any time prior to my rounds to work on it. I noticed the same with my driver lately. Since I do not play on a consistent basis I just need to have an all around practice at the range. Since I got my new irons that is all I wanted to hit. Mike
AK , I don't know how you hit your 300's but for me I have a nice high tajectory with the long irons Z's. Highest ball I have ever hit with a long iron . But that happens when you move over from years of blade usage . Did you find that you have some distance loss ?? Am just wondering if it is just me or if you or Al might have had the same also . Most of it has come back now , but am still a tad shorter that last year using the 690.MB's . Let me know what you find and then maybe I will stop worring and screwing around then .
shoe295
Al, my dad had a great fix for picking your head up ...involves growing a goatee and running a string from that to your testicles...you only peek once guaranteed... :surprize: Took my TM 510 to the club man today to put a new shaft in it..I wondered why I had no problem getting the thing airborne Sunday with an xtra stiff shaft in it and lo and behold..it's stamped 10.5 on the bottom..is actually 12*..which actually works really well for me since I hit the ball so low anyway...after one round it's a really nice head...hopefully I'll still feel that way after he puts the new Fuji 661 in it... :money: finally saw a set of z101's the other day...must say that's a very very nice club for a CB.....I even hit em into a net :-) ....nice stick...but I think I'm set for the summer..unless I find a really impressive set of irons...

I have been clubing a little more by about 5 yds depends on the hole. At the range my distance was about the same as the TM300's. The 3 iron flight may be my own doing - yes I know I suck :smile1: Mike thanks for the Pro V's - is the price right at $17.95 a sleeve Canadian ? You mean longer or shorter than the 300 . You will have to be patiant with me as it has been an extremly long day here at work . :tired: You mean I forgot to take the tags off   Yes that is the right price . But for me at least they are the best ball for the money spent . Have tried many different balls but none ever seem to last as long as the Pro V , so I figure I will spend about the same amount over the whole year wheather I buy Pro V's or some other ball . Pro V will give me at least 54 holes .

I am trying to manage the course better - paying attention to where I am going to leave the ball. However when I am in between I still find myself hitting the shorter club - harder - especially on smaller greens.
Mike
Hitting the shorter club harder is not really a bad thing , unless you are leaving the ball short of the green . Which is what I am doing . :wah: I am still considering bumping the lofts 1* strong , but have not convinced myself to do it yet . Kind of scared that it will increase the offset to much . Have Friday off so might go down to my local guy and get the 6 iron to PW bumped . Will wait and see what happenes Thursday night as I am working on getting my swing speed back to where it was 3 years ago and if I can do that will forget about bumping the lofts . Mike, They could always be bent back - never hurts to try. I am going to give them on more week before I have them bent down (lie) but since I reshafted I am not hooking them as much as I was with the s300's.
