Alcap26
Well I have been neglecting the thread so I thought I would check in. Didn't want a search party having to look for Pete and me both. I have been extremely busy with just life in general. Haven't played golf in about a month. I still haven't taken the new set of 300 to the course for a round. I have decided I am going to bend the mid irons to 1 degree up and the short irons and all wedges to standard lie. We will see how this works. Hopefully life will slow down a bit and I can play but I just have not missed it that much. The old monza is out of the bag and the older SC PP laguna 2 is back in. Trying to shorten my backswing and felt the monza helped me get sloppy with the putter. Oh well theory is good and all but we will see what comes on the course. Mike: Glad you are in the high speed world. AK: How are the Z's? Still loving them? Cmike: Good luck with the hockey. Shoe: Get to feeling better soon. Hipcheck: Get us another FFD03 to pillage golfsmith again this year....I wonder if ffd04 will work? Pete: Good luck with school. Guys I will post again soon. HipCheck
Man Al, I think I bought everything at Golfsmith last year. I guess I could use some rainwear, because the stuff I have now is more like body armor. My golf may continue for 1 or 2 rounds this year. I've played maybe twice in 4 weeks. Used to always play the day after Thanksgiving, but since my Father-In-Law passed 3 years ago, it's just not the same, unfortunately. Last round was a good one. Cold day, windy. Fought my way to an 85, but more importantly beat my friend who's a 4-capper (7 strokes better than me) 2 up in matchplay. That gave me a 3-2-2 mark to beat him for the season. I can't seem to eliminate those blowup holes. I had pars & birdies, but had 3 doubles and a triple. Hence, the bag situation. This year I've added the Nak driver, which is perfect for my swing, so that's set. I even have a backup, for some reason!? I've just about given up on FW woods, b/c I can't hit them with any consistency off the deck, which is most helpful to me. I love the TourStage FUT 19° soooo much that I just added a 16°, thanks to Roots & Relics in Honolulu of all places! I am OK w/my wedges too. My Vokey is great and my Cally will soon be replaced w/a Zodia. But irons....oh boy. I've tried Hogans, Miuras, Srixons and KZGs this year. These are by far the worst part of my game. I did a little demo the other day and tried EVERYTHING!!! What felt best? Ping G2s with R flex steel shafts. :tired: Oh man, I've got some thinking to do! :-D
Alcap26
I understand the fairway woods. I too could not hit them off the deck and I seemed to hook them quite a bit. I know have a sonartec ss02 and let me tell you this thing is a cannon and for me easy to hit off of the deck. I just wish i would have tried one of these earlier. I always thought I had to have steel in the 3wd and the sonars only come with graphite so i stayed away. Now I think to myself...what a dumbass. If it stays in the bag for 6 months then that is quite a long time for a 3 wood for me in the past 3 years. I can't remember how many I have tried. I bought a rain suit last year with the friends and family discount at golfsmith that got leaked on the net. I think it was like 270 regular and I got it for 150. Not too shabby. shoe295
Ah Hip I'm at my worst when I start thinking...but I understand your dilemma, I had a really tough year getting any kind of consistant iron play going...distance control was all over the place, so I'm thinking new irons also...hit Mizuno 32's, 33's and 37's the other day (but only in to a net so it's not really a demo, LOL) and just loved the 37's. Then I see those Gauge MB's, and then maybe the Fourteen's look good but maybe I should switch to a cavity back cuz even the men and women who make their living playing this game us those so how come I think I can get by with blades...anyway you get my drift...too many choices is bad for someone who can't make up his mind..but I sure did like those 37's... :money:
AKFLY
Just checking in. Al – still love the Z101’s. :tourstage: Actually I am loving all my clubs. When I have the home computer up and running I will get some pics of my black oxide putter and wedges – the Scotty looks great. As to playing – I am too busy at work – it is 64 deg. today and I cannot get out. Managed to hit the range yesterday before the last hour of daylight. This year I feel like my swing has finally came together. Thanks to a seasoned player at Golfsmith. I was demoing a driver when he asked me to hit a few balls on the monitor. His point was to show me how much I am coming over the top, and then he corrected my hand position on the downswing and gave me a drill to do. I was perplexed as to how much of an improvement this had made in my iron striking. Yesterday at the range I did not want to stop hitting balls. Hope all is well for everyone else. I am trying hard not to buy or change any of my equipment. Hope Santa gets me a nice carry bag – but I cannot decide on what brand or model. On the list would be the Mizuno Twister, Ogio Exo, or just a Ping Hoofer. Lastly – I need to get on a diet. I am working out like a good boy – but man I just cannot stop eating. chainsaw
I'll go ahead and check in as well. I too am loving the Z's  Like Andy I've been working my a** off. I think everything is gonna slow down in the next few weeks. It's a smooth 65 in Vegas today and I'm thinking of heading to the range tonight. I'll be down on the strip so I might go check out Callaway. On an equipment note, just saw the new Wilsons in this month's Golf Mag and I must say I'm pretty impressed. I doubt they'll make an appearance in my bag but it's nice to see them back on the scene.
Alcap26
Saw I too saw the Wilson's and am looking forward to seeing them in person. I am glad to see them going back to their roots...I wonder what the driver will be like. Got the mail today and I recieved two HX Tour balls. I signed up for the free two balls for sending a prov1 in but never got around to sending it in and I still got them. Early christmas present I guess. shoe295
Al, I think Ari is playing the driver already..west coast guys must get early cracks at everything.. I too am looking forward to seeing Wilson come back into the fray with some new equipment. I will probably be trying their new ball offerings in the spring as I've always had a soft spot for the Wilson Staff name. If I don't get to it before next week Happy Thanksgiving to all, may you and yours enjoy this, my most favorite holiday. Akfly...practice your push up's man..push yourself up and away from the table..LOL  ..hint: I avoid that by eating directly in front of the refrigerator or at the sink that way I have to lift the food farther to reach my face...great for the forearms

Alcap26
Shoe you can't forget the technotard label. chainsaw
I actually played this weekend and impressed myself with a 39 on the front but a disappointing 43 on the back. It had to be the Z's! I didn't have any problem whatsoever losing the long irons right. I didn't make a f-ing putt all day though. We're having a hell of a storm here. It rained like a mofo all day yesterday and snowed in the mountains. Mount Charleston which is the highest peak around here got 2 feet of snow yesterday. Hope everybody has a great thanksgiving and eats tons of Turducken.

chainsaw
The wedge is looking kinda :) If being in two pieces is a good thing, I'm sittin' pretty. The irons were on fiiiiiyah. I don't know why people were finding them to be short. The yardages were spot on for me. The long irons are fine now. My hips were clearing a little early. I was going after them a bit too hard and pressing I think. What should I ask for on my b-day? I want a new driver but that wouldn't fly, too many in and out of the bag so Kristin doesn't want to contribute to my ho'in. Suggestions appreciated. HipCheck
Well, gents, I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving. Hopefully I can work off a little of that Turkey tomorrow on the course, since it's supposed to be 51° out and it's the last weekend the local County courses are open. My Thanksgiving present just arrived today....a brand spankin' new set of Ping G2 irons. Yep, I finally broke down and got them. Forgiving irons, here I come. The 3,4,5 are the HL models too, but what the heck. My iron game is about as consistent as Courtney Love's behavior... Thanks to 'dmbao' on the board for the smooth-as-silk transaction too.
