Mike
Mike - BBQ should be at the top of the list - hopefully it is a Weber or Brinkman.Played like crap yesterday - I deserved it - drank to many bourbons on Saturday night. Is anyone still playing Z101's ? :rough: Laccy ? Anyone ? Don't have those brands up here Andy . Actually have only heard about the Weber and not the Brinkman . Mine is a Thermos , with a side burner and a rotissorie (sp) ? . Actually it is quite nice  I take it is gas - smoke box ? If not soak some wood chips and wrap in tin foil - gives food some flavor. Also get Stev Reichlem's book - "How to Grill" best $20.00 you will spend. Yup gas , would be still in the stone age if was getting a charcol BBQ . Will take a look in 2 book stores we have here  Thats right Andy only 2 :surprize: We have more golf course's than book stores
shoe295
mmmmm BBQ...I grill year round..even in the snow...something testosterone inducing about tossing raw animal flesh ontop of a hot fire then devouring it. glad the move is finished Mike...one of those tasks best enjoyed after it's completed.. Played yesterday...lots of winter kill on the greens...putts bounced more than a Harlem Globetrotter dribbling exhibition...still managed an unsatisfying 79...my distances are off since changing shafts..and I really need to get used to hitting a high ball..no more line drives with every iron shot...short game needs serious work...consistancy sucked...I'd love to blame the bumpy greens but I'm the assbag with the stick in his hands and my therapist tells me I must take responsibility for my actions...ah F*** him..the damn bumpy greens cost me at least 6 shots... Andy...in my day I only ever had 2 drinks a day..the first and the last...
chainsaw
Andrew- The Z's are going to be taking a little break in the corner for a while. Got a set of TA-2's to drive around the block, actually two sets but we don't need to talk about it. One tour, one retail for comparison sakes. The tours should be in my hand today. Hope you guys are sitting down for this, I might actually go practice today. The wind was blowing at 50 MPH yesterday, brutal.

I never hit the Cleveland irons if they are anything like the wedges - you should be in business. Anyway- I played again this morning - played good on the front until the guy I was playin with dragged me down for the last few holes. Anyone else have this problem ?- it happened to me Sunday also - where I have a hard time staying in my groove when the other guy is hacking around. HipCheck
Anyone else have this problem ?- it happened to me Sunday also - where I have a hard time staying in my groove when the other guy is hacking around. I'm in the same boat. It's the worst. Not to say I'm the best golfer, but I have a friend who has debilitated into a complete hack. When I play in the same foursome, my game goes down to his level. Of course it's only a mental thing, but mentality is a big part of golf.
chainsaw
I am the worst about finding a fault in my playing partners game and then fixating on it for the rest of the round. Usually, with better players there's not an issue but with some of the ahem " higher handicapped" players I've teed it up with it kills my game. Here are two of my all time favorites. There's the freezer, he freezes over the ball for a 20 count before he starts his swing. I kid you not, 20 seconds. I started counting on about the sixth hole and it was very consistent. I have bar graphs that can be shared which show the corrolation between the increased freeze time and the decline of my score. Then there's my all time favorite, wrong club guy. He would pull a club, take three practice swings, address the ball and then back off and get another club. Did it on at least 14 of 18 holes. It was the worst thing I've ever seen in my life. Even the freezer was annoyed by it.

That was this morning - he can not get his driver airborne - so he thinks if he looks at it - for like forever - it will start to fly high - instead of low left. If it wasn't 8:00 a.m. and I did not have to come back to work -I would have started drinking. :blackeye:
Mike
Don't have those problems on the course , play with a great bunch of guys. I guess thats one of the advantages of being a member of a club . :smile1: Lance are you dropping the Z's also ?? Just wondering thats all , but it seems to me that I got them first  And dropped them first . Hope I'm not setting a trend here .
Alcap26
Wait a minute Mike...I get credit for droping them first. Guys life is real hectic right now. Mike glad the move is over and all I can do is say a man with no grill is not a man. Thats all for now.

Alcap26
Now wait a minute Andy....I must share my history with irons: 1) TM300 for 4 years 2) TS Z101 for a couple of months that I traded to you for your TM300 that I sold...only used them on the range 3) King Cobra Forged ss since last July/August 4) Mizuno MP32 that you are working on that have not seen the course yet. In 5-6 years I have only had three sets... and how many shafts have you gone through this month.

Mike
Alan you are right , you did get rid of yours first now that I think about it . Sorry :spit:  You know guys we can all say the same thing . Once I found out that there were a thing called a golf board I have truned into a HO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I would probably still be using the 29's now and playing a lot better . Lets see , have had the following : 1) MP-29's 2) Titliest 690MB's , 681's and the 681 T - Stamps 3) Z101's and last 4) MP-37's . Thats just the irons , don't even want to list the drivers or putters  Look at all the money that was spent that could have gone elsewhere . But yes I know , How much fun would that be
Alcap26
I can say the driver has been a very stoic figure in my bag. I used a biggest big bertha for 4-5 years then got the TM mentioned bleow and have been using it every since. I got it after being on this board for about a week. Now I have experimented with some putters: 1) Gauge Design Eld**k 2) TM Monza 3) Betti Baby Bee 4) Scotty SS Newport 2.5 (had this one when I joined) and now I am back to the putter I was using in 1998 a scotty pro platinum Laguna 2. I am looking for one to refinish but I am in no hurry. Putters used to be my downfall but the Laguna 2 is making a bunch of putts and it works with my stroke. I wish I would have never benched it but I am glad I never sold it.
AKFLY
Actually the board has renewed my love for golf. While yes I have spent $$$$$$ for new equipment - I have also learned allot. All fun stuff - great people to boot.

All fun stuff - great people to boot. Ditto....I could be wasting my time on things like yard work and TV watching instead of checking boards...and all the $$$$$ would have been spent on something I probably would enjoy as much as a root canal..so what the hell...besides my game is actually getting better (ok so i'm lying about this but i have hope).. just for entertainment value alone it's worth the time..where else could I meet a Canadian military man, a kid (sorry Alan) from Tennessee, a couple of FIB's (for those of you who don't know, FIB is wisconsinese for f***ing illinois bast**d), a Nevadan, an east coast ex hockey player and all the rest without having to move from in front of the computer...even when times are tough you guys make my day..banter is a wonderful thing...damn i'm getting maudlin...quick somebody sell me a new driver
HipCheck
Hey gents. Playing in my company's 70th Annual Charity Golf Classic yesterday. Beautiful course. Ballyowen in Northern NJ. After sucking it up last year big time with a 96, I played really well this time. Using the Callaway scoring system, if you play well enough, you can get into a playoff round of 8 golfers at a later date. Low Gross man and low gross woman get in, then the remaining 6 are Callawayers. I had two blow up holes. A triple bogey on a par five to start, then a ball in the water on a par three, which I then doubled. That actually fares well for the Cally system, though. I doubled a par 4 in addition to this. I coming down the stretch I new I was playing pretty well. I hit 11 GIR, and also stuck one to 6 feet on a closest to the pin hole, but I just couldn't hit any putts. I had 12 pars, which 4 of those having birdie opportunities within 20 feet. Very disappointing. I missed getting in the playoff round by one shot :( But, looking at the bright side, I shot 22 over par last weekend. Yesterday, I shot 12 strokes better on a tougher layout. This proves one thing... I have to drink beer on the course more often! :beer2: :beer2: :beer2: http://www.crystalgolfresort.com/Content/C...asp?SID=2&CID=
shoe295
Nice course indeed , thanks for the link..am curious to see how the beer theory plays out in practice  ..did you win a nice prize for closest to the pin? I love all the give a ways at our company outing  ...

I thought I was in tight enough w/closest to the pin with 6'0", but the last group came along and some old fogey stuck one to 1'2". Denied!!!! I can't really complain, because I won the straightest drive at last year's outing, and won a golf bag and a wedge at the previous two. Fun day and I was proud of the way I played because my driving totally stunk. :poop: I'm playing a a club's member-guest tomorrow, so it's nice to be playing well going into that. AKFLY
Did not play this weekend but managed some time with the boys at the range yesterday - my 8 year old is just smacking it. Fun to see the boys wanting to spend more time at the putting green than at the range. Anyway contemplating reshafting my Mp-37's with PX. Not sure why just cannot leave well enough alone. When I was hitting my Z's I was like 5 yards longer with PX over DGS300. But I am hitting my MP -37's aa club longer than my Z101's as is. What do you boys suggest ? If you're striping it, which I would consider 1 club longer 'stiping it', I'd leave well enough alone. I'd think that's pretty long already. If you feel your control is lacking, you can switch them out. Yes, I'm actually suggesting NOT changing. Guess I'm turning over a new leaf. chainsaw
So, my score was not any better with the new more forgiving irons but it was more putting than iron play. The range is still good but I can't transfer it over to the course. I'm killing the ball on the range. The G2 is long as hell though. I think I found something that really works with the Accra tour and G2. I uncorcked one downwind that was 340 but I couldn't keep it in the FW. If I try to cut it I pull the heck out of it and if I try to hook it I block it. Help! My irons are pretty much the same way on a much smaller scale. I shot 86 on Sunday that easily should have been a 79. I lipped out two birdies, boomeranged a bogey putt on one and took a 3 straight doubles on the back. One was on a par 5 where I was 110 out in two. Going to West Texas and New Mexico this weekend for a few rounds. Have a tee time Friday at Paa-Ko Ridge, supposed to be incredible. Have a good week guys.
