madball
I recently got 2 demos from Chris of the Fourteen TB-1000 forged and the TC-770 Before today --the best iron I've ever hit in my life in regards to feel is a well struck R7 Forged iron.....LOVE the feel ---but for whatever reason I can't score with them. Recently got a set of Mizuno MP-32's and love everything about them--and the feel is great-along with workablility--ball flight--look at address..ect..ect So I got these 2 demos in to hit beside the 32's......first off I have to say I had to shovel snow off of a range mat a day in advance before I hit. Next day it warmed up to a balmy 40* and I went to hit, The TB-1000 is soft--very soft---easily workable in either direction. Great feel! I thought it looked small before I hit-but it never was a thought after a few hits-and actually about the same size as the MP32's Pretty forgiving for a true blade--which is not what you're really looking for with this type of iron--but suprisingly so...very impressed Now to the TC-770 ... If the TB-1000 and the Mizuno MP32 have great feel (which they do) --and the R7 forged is the best feeling iron I've ever hit (which it WAS) then the TC-770 has SUPER feel!! I used to describe the R7's as "when you hit them flush-you just have to shake your head in amazement on just how good an iron can feel" Well--they still do--but there is at least 1 iron that feels better! -- The Fourteen TC-770 is now hands down the best feeling iron I've ever had my hands on (and this is all in 35*-40* temps with snow on the ground) Penetrating mid-high ball flight and very workable also --more so than other players cavities I've hit I don't have time to put these in to play because its the dead of winter here right now--but after hitting extensively off the range --I can't see how there can possibly be a better players cavity than these..These are impressive big time The TB-1000's are great also in blades--but no time to fully compare them in game conditions to the MP32's Edited January 30, 2007 by madball

Feel the same about my Epon Type J's. The "flush factor" is unsurpassed in anything I've hit. But because I know that you know what you're talking about, might just have to try a set of these them there 14's or whatever them things are called. The TC770's say forged in the cavity NSPRO 950 stiff TB-1000 has a S200 in it I have read where the cast version of these is even softer feeling Can't see how any club could be...but I haven't hit them all

LOL--IMO--these surpass the Type J, R7 Forged, MP32's in the feel dept and thats saying a lot because I absolutely love those 3 irons.. I need a set of these when the weather breaks here...the workability and ease of hitting of this players cavity intrigues me Edited January 30, 2007 by madball

Yes they look awesome, clean lines, and well balanced aesthetically. Might have to try them.

fiascal
Got to agree with you there Madball. Just recently purchased the new TC-770 Forged and am very pleased with them. Switched from the XB CB2's and the change in swing weight made the TC's feel like a junior set. The lofts are on the stronger side and the sweet spot is noticeably larger on the TC's. The only concern that I have with the TC's are that the NSPRO 950 shafts. It feels like there is more shaft flex at impact than with the XB CB2's. Also notice the the slight increase in offset throws my alignment off when I set up. Hey Madball, what did you think of the 950 shaft on the TC's. Think maybe the 1050's may make the club feel even sweeter?

wwd
I just took delivery of the cast TC-770 yesterday evening. Let me say first off that I pretty much ruled out ever buying japanese golf equipment. The reasons being:- 1/ Cost 2/ The short irons. Yikes!!!!!!! 3/ No ability to demo the clubs first. 4/ Reverse offset. 5/ Never cared for the forged vs cast debate. Flush shots on decent clubs all "feel" the same to me (I accept that there might be performance differences). 6/ No after sales service. Having said all that, I took a chance when Fourteen golf opened up in Irvine, California. Long story short, all 6 reasons why I ruled out Japanese clubs are now gone where the brand Fourteen is concerned! Great clubs; great people to deal with (demo clubs available at stores that carry their equipment); great price (same price as Cally or TM. LOL. This might stop some from purchasing their equipment); Great short irons. Oh yeah, these are amazing looking and performing clubs. A TRULY forgiving yet workable iron. Thanks Fourteen!! If you look at the website, you will see that Irvine is where they are based. Look up the website and it will give you a big list of authorised retailers. Or just call them, they are helpful good guys.

Fourteens Blades and CB's are some of the softest, Their product quality is Rock Solid and I can suggest the entire product line up except for the putters for any good player. You guys can buy it from a shop in person, but just remember that we have it in stock, ready for custom options, and will give you the BEST price! landshark
chris: regarding the forged 770, where in the forgiveness scale would you rate it against the epon lineup or compared to the g field nc1? thanks
greens
i am also interested in the forgiveness factor between those clubs.especially the g-field nc1 vs the fourteen forged 770. if anyone has some first hand experience please post. Just thought I'd bump this last question back up as I'm eager to hear some impressions as well.
luthcol
I have owned the Gauge Design Handmades and recently acquired the Fourteen 770 forged irons. I have a garage full of clubs that I have purchased through the years and the Fourteen irons is where I will stop. These are the finest irons I have played, both in feel and accuracy. The only negative comment I can make is how the lofts are set. I found myself hitting irons 2 clubs longer than normal. I took them to the club repairmen I use and had the lofts and lie set to my preferance and he commented that they were the softest irons he had ever worked with and he has been a club builder for 35 years. I now have the Fourteen wedges on the way and an considering trying the hybrids. Mike
