leepark
I just my G-Field GFT #7 head from Chris last week, and took it right away to my clubmaker and had him put a Fuji HK-PRO110 in it. Well yesterday I went to pick it up and he told me that the weights are loose. I was able to turn one of the weights with the tip of a pin. While he tightened them up as best as he could, he didn't have the right tool to tighten them up fully. My question is, where can one get this tool? Has anyone else had a problem with weights coming loose? I'm a bit concerned as weights coming loose during a round can cause the clubhead to play different than how it was meant to (lose its integrity). Having said that, the GFT head looks AWESOME, and even better with the HK-PRO110 in it. Edited February 16, 2007 by leepark

I'm a bit concerned as weights coming loose during a round can cause the clubhead to play different than how it was meant to (lose its integrity). Having said that, the GFT head looks AWESOME, and even better with the HK-PRO110 in it. I purchased a GFT-FW #3 head from chris and installed a shaft. After it dried, I cut it down and installed a grip. It was then I noticed the club vibrating. One of the weights was loose and I just tightened it with a sharp object... the best I could. I live in Ohio, so I haven't even hit it yet. I e-mailed chris and he said that he has been asking GField for that wrench for the last 5-6 months. I can only assume that it will come loose again after I hit it. I suggest checking back with Chris or contacting G-Field. I was thinking about applying some epoxy to the threads and screwing it in the best I can. It's just a thought, I'd prefer the wrench. Let me know if you have any luck. leepark
Chris, any chance you can get G-Field to provide us with the tool so that the weights can be secured? I really hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue. The clubhead is too nice to have something like this take away from it. I've never had problems with weights coming loose on Taylor Made clubs. Blader-X
Yea, I have the same problem with my 4 wood. Its only one of the two weights and it seems to me it must be some kind of manufacturing flaw if its affecting a few of us. To be honest, I haven't had any problems with its performance because of it but it is a bit distracting.
+TourSpecGolfer
We have been using black onyx which is a super strong epoxy to secure them, it works like a charm and you can get it at golf smith.
leepark
OK on the black onyx but must say it doesn't look too good on G-Field from a perception standpoint. As this is the first time acquiring a G-Field product, no matter how well it might perform (as I have yet had the pleasure of hitting it) having parts fall off from the get-go is not good. This really makes me question their quality control. My 2 cents.
matt411
in my uninformed opinion, it is pretty ridiculous you guys are not being taken care of on this. the clubs are essentially falling apart and the response is "go buy epoxy." gfield should be better than that. My #3 is brand new and Chris offered to replace. As I mentioned in an earlier post, I just tightened the screw the best I could. I decided to see what happens when I hit it. When I do, and if the weight comes loose, I would assume G-Field will replace. At least that's what I expect. It's obvious something is wrong with the ports or G Field isn't tightening the screws enough. You would think that they would provide a wrench with the purchase of the club. The club looks nice though...but we'll see.

I dont see anywhere that G-field says go buy epoxy, that is me telling members what I do. Everyone knows they can get a refund but has decided not to. G-Field is NOT a healthy company right now. If you guys want to express your displeasure or request a replacement please e-mail [email protected]
Blader-X
It must be something inherent to the woods as the utiltiy that I have doesn't have that problem at all and it has weights as well. On the 4 wood its only one of the two weights and its never come close to falling out. It still performs very, very well. Its sad to hear that they're none too healthy right now as I do like some of their product.
idrive
I've had my 3 & 5 wood and 3 utility for about a week now. Have hit at least 30-40 shots with each. I wouldn't have thought to check the weights until reading this. All solidly intact. These clubs perform so well, are so easy to hit and work.. it's obvious why everyone wants to keep them rather than return for a refund. l9979
i found some wrench in the golfsmith website... http://www.golfsmith.com/products/PSP3 do you guys think it will fit well??
leepark
I have no intention of getting a refund and was in way trying to stir up controversy on this matter. I just thought it was strange that G-Field wouldn't have addressed a problem like this already as it seems to be a common problem. Until I find a tool (the one above looks like it might work) or take it in to get it epoxied I have to be careful about not losing the weight. Also trying to tighten it with a pin can result in a nice big scratch if I'm not careful.
idrive
i found some wrench in the golfsmith website...http://www.golfsmith.com/products/PSP3 do you guys think it will fit well?? I'd say no. It is made for purespin wedges/weights. I'd be very surprised if they were the same. I used a wooden toothpick to check my weights... no scratching. dcc14
I've had a GFT 4wood in the bag for 9 months now with absolutely no weight issues whatsoever. (Gfield utility in the bag as well with no mishaps there either) Dave

BunkerTex
G-Field is NOT a healthy company right now. What is the long term prognosis for this company?
