HELP! AXIV vs. RODDIO vs. OZIK

Really, this is starting to drive me crazy, i want to make the financial plunge into one of these. I am placing the 10.5 SQ Tour model Nike head on the driver.

I would like something with the best feel, high torque, low/mid launch, R/S stiffness in a 55-65g, but something I can go after and not worry about completely losing control. I know it's asking for a lot, but I can not get access to trying these super shafts. So that's why I need your help. Which one is seems like the best fit. I need more distance, more carry, less spin. After looking at the driver tests done by the one website, it seems the Roddio is my best bet, low spin more distance. HELP ME!

You can't go wrong if you ask for TSG's help and send them the Nike head. They're fully accredited to install the Roddio shaft.

A torque of 3.0-4.5 closer to the higher end of the scale. A ball speed of 165mph with get this an Alida 55g weak shaft. Loved it's flight. I don't know my swing speed, I would guestimate that is about 100mph. Smooth one plane swing with an aggressive wrist release at impact. Generate a lot of distance due to shoulder turn, swing is very similar to Tiger/Adam Scott.

Right now I'm looking at the

Roddio 6WA (R/S)

AXIV-V 6062 (R/S)

OZIK I have no Idea, but I do see some amazing shafts by them

I'm looking for a nice deal but most importantly more distance, that's why the Roddio intrigues me so much, the 6 shaft test really made the Roddio stand out!

Oh okay 3.0-4.5 torque... in Japan the high end of the torque scale is 4.5-6.0! There are definitely a lot of shafts in the 3.5-4.5 range but the two you picked out would fit your speed and swing type except you might consider the 6BA instead of WA. The BA is for the smooth swinger while the WA is for the hard hitter. Both shafts should give you a good kick. The Oziks are nice but I didn't find there to be as much kick and distance as the Axiv... it was smooth and controlled and tight but if it's distance you're looking for, the Axiv V and Roddio and even the GD PT-6 or Quattro Tech 65s are good choices. I think it's good thinking to go SR at 100mph too.

Just be careful, the ball speed of 165 and ss estimate of 100 do not go together. If the former is correct, he will be in an x flex.

Hey T

At 100mph is good for SR @ 4to 4.5 torque with these JDM but at 100ss would not get you 165 ballspeed. For 165 ballspeed, the ss should be higher, right?

You're right guys I didn't even notice the ball speed. I only targeted his SS and desire for torque.

165mph ball speed usually results from a swing closer to 110mph... SR would indeed be too soft... but heck he got that 165mph with an R flex shaft!!

Actually it wasn't a R flex shaft, it was a ladies flex Pink Aldila, I didn't want to embarass myself, but it was a Aldila Pink NV 55 - L, and sadly I loved it distance wise. I am looking for something similar, weight, torque and distance wise, but possibly a higher quality shaft for better shot dispersion

Really for me its down to the:

AXIV-V early 6000's, late 5000's series

OR

RODDIO 6WA or 6BA

Back in my professional teaching days Henry Griffitts (custom fit clubs) advocated as low of torque as possible with more flexible shafts (TT manufactured them for HG). This combination really worked for most of my students (low , mid and high handicaps).

I've never been able to control driver with torques over 3. Guess it's my medium fast tempo and 110+ss. I just don't see what benefit higher torque gives.

Off topic a bit, would the Axiv 7072 stiff be too stiff for a 98 MPH SS? I have relatively fast tempo with miss left.

Thanks

Yeah it probably would be too stiff.

I have a SS of 100 to 105 and find that my Axiv V 6070 is about right, maybe just a touch on the soft side if I really go after it for maximum distance. The Axiv V's in my fairway and hybrids are slightly heavier and slightly stiffer than that in my driver and I definately prefer them in terms of accuracy and distance. My SS produces a ball speed of 155 to 160mph but I do have a a very fast late snap in my wrists, one of the reasons I switched to Axiv V's, they do limit the number of snap hooks that I used to get!
