gocchin
This news just in from Tourspecgolfer! Chris has found out through Bridgestone/Tourstage that a new X-Drive GR Driver will be released in June followed by X-Drive GR Fairway woods. These will be geared towards average golfers with more forgiveness and larger faces. Standard shafts for the driver will include a new and improved Tourstage XD-S60 shaft or the Rombax 6X07! Driver will be availabe in 9.5 and 10.5 lofts and fairway woods in 15, 18, 21, asnd 24 lofts! Will be interesting to see once more details come out what the actually changes are between this X-Drive and the current 2007 line.
acrazygolfer
i want one.the x-drive 460 was great but it could be more forgiving. that titanium crunch feel is awesome. this GR driver should be right up my alley and must try for myself. cant wait till JUNE or whenever the release. cool troy The 3 wood should be good for the both of us. K2_2
Any news on a hybrid? That said, I love the X-UT and have zero reason to switch away from those at the moment (am I the only one who thinks its stupid easy to hit?). Also, does anyone know how they will balance out the X-series, the more forgiving X-series (a la the GR stuff) with the ViQ line? I thought the X-series was the more player oriented gear while the ViQ line was a bit more of a game improvement line.
Breal
Thats a great idea a more user friendly driver for people who like Tourstage. I have been wanting to try out the regular X -Drive but these two drivers would be fun to compare. Everyone wants more forgiveness when they can get it and with good performance. gocchin
It's starting to show up in pre-release on the tour and with testers in Japan. It's like a flattened out new X-Drive with the weight pushed even lower and a much shallower face for foriveness and higher trajectory. Bridgestone says this is good for the player with a head speed of around 43m/s (97mph) or slower. It's a lighter head than the normal X-Drive and the hosel is apparently 1cm shorter. vandercharks
I've already seen a 'tour proto' up for sale on that well-known auction site.
bartolomeo1
I have the 460cc in 9.5° and was curious to see the GR model. MY SS is between the 110-115 and I was curious since the new GR is meant for the 97 crowd, what will that do for me with same shafts in both heads? K2_2
More shallow head and lower CG would probably mean higher launch and spin?
Forte
I have a feeling the ViQ should still be more forgiving than tht GR series as th X series is the better line.

You have the VIQ and the X series, the GR is part of the X series,, correct? Bart
Duffer19
In the general scheme of things, the X-Drive series has always target the low handicap and good players while Viq is for the rest of us. I think the GR is somewhere in between where people want something beyond the Viq but something more forgiving than X-Drive. I personally would not attempt to play the X-drive (ss not fast enough to take advantage of design) but would be tempted to try out the GR version. ClubHoUno
How much shallower will the face be in the X driver GR ? I love deep faced driver heads - and hate too shallow faced driver heads.......so should I go for traditional X driver or the upcoming one ? My SS is 112 Mph with the driver.....my normal distance with the driver is 260-265 carry and 280-285 with roll.

We have similar stats.....My SS is 110-115.......carry 270 I play the X-Drive with a XCON and love it, but will nlw stay away from the GR version as it will produce higher spin than the X-Drive and spin is not what I need more of.
