Posted April 15, 200717 yr comment_132825 After going through numerous sets of irons that just did not have the right combination of feel, forgiveness and performance. I have finally found the right setup. The ViQ Forged 2007 with Axiv 758M are the best feeling most forgiving and long irons I have ever hit!! The Axiv are smooth, very smooth and straight. Feel is amazing with the lighter graphite weight and the ViQ Forged are sweet and easy to hit. Even my clubfitter who swings 25mph faster than me was hitting the ViQ's all day and could not believe how good they were even with the R flex graphite. He hit the 4 iron 227yards dead center and then proclaimed that that he wanted to bag them for the year. The combination of a large sweetspot, large and low cavity back center of gravity and tungsten weights in the long irons and strong lofts, coupled with mid kicking light graphite.... a deady combo. Conifidence at address and pure feel on inpakuto... awesome.
April 15, 200717 yr comment_132827 Congrats Gocchin. Gamers for how long? Until the end of the year when Epon might come out with a new line?? Seriously though, that's great to hear. Having clubs you can really rely on just makes the game so much more enjoyable. I feel like you about my new set of wedges and soon I believe my bag will be complete when the new 7 wood comes in.
April 15, 200717 yr comment_132829 Congrats too T but knowing you, I would probably give you a month or two before the itch gets too much again. The baby blue grip on the iron is great but I had nightmare last night about your orange Iomic grip on the Epon 460 with Axiv combo.
April 15, 200717 yr comment_132832 Let us know how it goes on these graphite shafts! I may try the same myself but i have worries about my distance gaps shifting +/- 5-10 yards. How is feel? ease of use? dispersion compared to a steel shaft.
April 15, 200717 yr Author comment_132834 Feel is amazing, smooth but tight, Jeff tried them and thought they would be whippy with his 105mph swing but found them to be solid and was amazed at the feel. Dispersion was very tight... easy as heck to go straight and just as good as my NSPro. Distance increase over steel about 5-10 yards but that's taking into consideration that the lofts are also slightly stronger than my Z-101's. These are it for the summer... can't afford to spend more money... (^_^) I love the Iomic grips too, tacky and look good... at least I think so... baby blue on the irons, navy blue on the wedges, superman blue with red caps on the woods and utilities, bright orange with the Epon Axiv and lime green with the Roddio Inpres X 460D... Oh and thanks to Chris of course for hooking me up with these shafts... if anyone wants to go graphite, Axiv is the way to go... and also thanks to 808hack for the ViQ's!
April 15, 200717 yr Author comment_132844 What I've realized is that these New ViQ Forged are very similar to my Z-101's in design and shape except the CG and weight is pushed down further and deep as possible and the ViQ is larger in all dimensions. The feel is even softer than the Z-101's maybe because the sweetspot is larger^^. Very happy with these irons.
April 15, 200717 yr comment_132846 Great choice of clubs, and I'm happy to hear that you like the shafts! I talked to Chris about a slightly heavier version of the Axiv's awhile back, but I've yet to find anyone playing them... until now. As for the ViQ, having a set tends to color one's opinion (a set that I don't think I'll get rid of for a long time), but they have an amazing combination of forgiveness, feel, and control to shape shots. Enjoy!
April 15, 200717 yr comment_132856 hey gocchin. i have those same clubs...and i think they are fricken awesome too. im playing them with the ns pro 1150gh and the feel of the shafts and head is just smooth.
April 16, 200717 yr Author comment_132943 Soooo smooth... I'm very happy. Now if only the weather here would get better!
April 16, 200717 yr comment_132944 Happy for you T. You could make Spalding Executives look enticing with your photo skills. What model camera do you have?
April 16, 200717 yr Author comment_132948 I'm still learning to take pics. It's a lot of fun taking pictures of golf equipment though. However with the weather so bad and the winter just gone by, all my pics in the last 6 months have been indoors where the lighting sucks. I'm using a Sony DSC-H5. I can't wait to get outdoors and try and take awesome pics like Chris does...

As for the set up, super sweeeeet for sure! ('_') I too am using graphite iron shafts @ present & could not be happier. (Matrix Studio 94's) Congrats on finding your optimal set up / for right now anyway! (^_-) Dave
April 17, 200717 yr Author comment_132988 I'm really really happy with the Axiv shafts. I was going to try the Tour AD graphite iron shafts but Chris convinced me to give the Axiv's a whirl and he was right as usual.
April 18, 200717 yr Author comment_133025 Just to let you guys know, these New ViQ Forged were voted iron of the year by Golf Digest's Choice Magazine. Readers praised their overall playability, soft feel and performance as witnessed by their use with several pros including Ai-chan all the way down to recreational golfers! I saw the headlines... now I gotta wait for the magazine to arrive so I can read more details... I've only heard good things about these, including from members here who own them...
April 19, 200717 yr comment_133100 This irons were also voted by Japan's Golf Gear mag's "King of the King" test as the best mid-size irons. I would love to try it if not my obsession for the Gold's Factory's flat back irons.

I would love to try it if not my obsession for the Gold's Factory's flat back irons. That's right! It faced off against the XXIO forged and won 3 votes to 1 from the 4 testers. I have the video... I will post it.
April 19, 200717 yr comment_133152 Gocchin, I have been viewing your comment for quite some time as I have about the same swing speed and figure about the same skill level based on your comments about your own game. I have eyed the Viq forged Irons out of the gate and I live vicariously through your product testing and knowledge. If only my wife would let me purchase a set Any way I wanted to thank you for your posts and Impakto sight for all the great information. In a year+ when a new forged love comes along, give me a pm for your current set of gamers as I would give them a good home Seriously though, I am curious as to how you are getting along with the Yamaha compared to the epon driver. The Yamaha does have a nice look, but how does it perform? thanks, Kent
April 19, 200717 yr Author comment_133154 Hi Kent, I love the Epon, it has the best shape and feel of any driver I have ever hit or seen. That said, lately I have been having trouble with deep faced drivers as my misses are towards the heel not up and down. The Yamaha does not have the same sound or feel as the Epon but for me with it's shallower face, I've been having success with it. The stock shaft was not great but the head is a beauty and paired with the right shaft it can definitely perform. As for the ViQ's, I've been looking for the best combination of feel and forgiveness. I am not the best ball striker but I have been very happy with the ViQ's, they are larger than typical player CB's but I find that gives me confidence at address and they are just easy to hit! Won't be letting them go for a while (hehe at least this season). (^_-)
April 20, 200717 yr comment_133190 Good deal !! glad you like them, and now lets not see that signature change in a week. lol Tourstage makes some great irons, and you should never go wrong with clubs like the VIQ. Good playing and stick with them.
May 13, 200717 yr comment_134463 Wow... good looking clubs. How would you compare these to Srixon i-505 or the i-506?
May 13, 200717 yr Author comment_134475 Had a set of i-506 and found the leading edge a bit sharp, feel and design were great, head is smaller than the New ViQ forged, the tourstage may have a slight edge in forgiviness and feel.
