Hit Zodia KM Tour's today...

I have a good friend in Japan who found out recently that I'm really into golf. He sent me a set of Zodia wedges that he got through a friend that said they were in play by a girl on the JLPGA for a couple of tournaments. My first impression were that the heads seemed small... the 52* is a prototype of some kind and both are raw finish shafted up with Tour AD graphite and Ladies Iomic grips (which were too small for me).

I went to the range to hit them this morning and I found them a lot harder to hit than my Epons. Maybe it was the grips^^l. The grips weren't to small for my wife who actually liked hitting the 58* and was stopping her shots right on one of the practice greens. Good looking wedge (though someone did crappy white paintfill on them that I will probably remove) but they didn't feel as good or as forgiving as epon X... For me the Epon is the best wedge out there.

That's the reason my Yururi Raw 49* I bought last year in Thailand is currently out of the bag and replaced by Epon 50* Copper X. This raw thing is overrated and chew up the ball too much. I think the Epon has better feel than my Yururi anyway.

I still experiment... with wedges the new Tourstage wedges are the latest. Great wedge, a little smaller head size compared to the Epons. Spins the ball very well.

They still won't be taking the Epons out anytime soon. I can't find a better wedge. (Epon)

I dont have the epons, but have the zodias KM tour, vokeys, gft wedges, gas II and gas I.

For me what I look for in a wedge is precision (as i need little or no forgiveness within 100-120 yards) and I think the Zodia KM tour is a great wedge. compact, but cuts through the turf/rough and helps me to dial in a distance. And I can spin it or release it at will.

I will rate the zodia better than the gauge wedges (although I have to admit I like the GFT wedges a lot too) and the vokeys. I probably will be skipping the Epons straight to Carlton's offering. In the meantime, I have a yururi 61* on order.

Constantly changing wedge(s) is not really conducive to lower ones score you know. Having said that, I just picked up an new 'old' model Pride 52* for USD100 and put it in bag that I leave in Hong Kong. It has the K's wedge shaft which is sort of rare nowadays. :tsg_smiley_crazy:

It's not ONLY about the scores... it's also about trying new equipment, comparing, trying a different feel... heck if we all didn't want to look for the latest and greatest, none of us would probably be here! :tsg_smiley_crazy:

It's always fun to try new stuff and keep an open mind as idrive said! ^^

I respectfully disagree with you on this. I, at least, trying out new equipments in the hope of 'buying' a better game which sometime it works, sometime doesn't. At my age, I need new equipments so I can just keep up but not for the sake of just trying new stuff. The main goal here is to THE GAME.

Never said I was trying to buy a better game ^^. I just like trying new stuff like many others here. But I still game with the same gear. Since I've gotten my custom Gauge The One, that is the only putter I actually putt with. I've only been using the Yamaha/Roddio combo even though I have 5 other drivers. For me enjoying the game is also about experimenting. ^_^ I'm still a long way from understanding my own game or the equipment that suits me so I don't think theres anything wrong with experimenting. I think I'm in fact learning a lot about my game, and golf equipment. (^_^)

I am just saying that I try to buy a better game (many time just false hope) and in particular older golfers like me, we do need help with more forgiving equipment, such as flex and driver length. If the equipment works, I would try to stick with it for awhile as our golfing horizon is more finite than young bucks like you.

I appreciate your advice as always R. I still have a long ways to go to catch up to your game and your golfing experience/knowledge! By the way you back yet? :tsg_smiley_crazy:

I'm still rocking the Zodia Kms.... 54 and 58...... small heads yeah, and now they're worn, no longer shred balls. They have been a revelation to me. They were the first Japanese import clubs I had ever bought and have been incredibly good to me, brought my short game on, no end.

Sadly they really should be replaced soon, but there are so many alternatives out there.

Looking is half the fun though eh?
