Hi,

Going to pick a new titleist today, either a D2 or an R...What kind of shaft "fits" well with this head? i like the YS-6, but what higher end shaft goes well with it? i dont see many people using Axiv's with titleists...maybe the GD quattro?

Thanks

I think the reason you dont see a lot of high end Japanese shaft with the Titleist driver is that not many in this post play with Titleist drivers in the first place, espcially the new 907. On domestics, there are probably more TM here than Titleist in this site.

plus, if i am going to spend $400 on a shaft such as a Roddio, i might as well as get a good head such as the epon or tourstage...

thats true, but the thing is, i don't want to spend 600 on a driver that i am not even able to demo...Im sure they are fantastic clubs, but i cant see taking that risk.

When you play a demo, you are demo'ing the head together with whatever shaft the rep or store had at the time, so you are taking a risk anyway on your question of shaft upgrade. It is always a risk with JDM shaft if you never play the brand or that particular shaft. TSG have some fitting advices but it is still a risk at the end. Is GD Quattro tech an option for special order with Titleist or are you simply ask opinion on different shafts? You would get tons of comment on shaft only but not necessary on the Titleist 907 D2 combo.

I have tried an axiv in a r7 and a hibore before... As for the Quattro, i really like the GD YS-6 in the titleist...so would the Quattro be smoother/longer/tighter? I guess the question is how does the quattro compare with the YS-6?

4 to 6 times the cost, would the Quattro Tech be 4 to 6 times better? Your call. Since people here that play the quattro tech would not play a ys 6 which effectively a shaft for the north American market.

you have to make the call... all i can tell you is I was in the same boat last year... i took a long time before I forayed in with irons (miuras) then wedges...and then almost a year later .....japanese drivers/woods/putters/shafts...... All i can say is that in hindsight i should have done it all last year..... equipment does make a difference...

With all due respect, the YS series doesn't even begin to compare with likes of the QuattroTech. In fact all shafts in Graphite Design Tour AD series are vastly superior to anything they make for US domestic.

As far as spending $600 on a driver you'll never demo, there is no demo made that I could try which could compare to the likes of a TourStage or an Epon. The feel of those clubs is unreal. You just need to know your game.

Becareful though, once you take the plunge, there's no turning back and soon your entire bag will be infiltrated with JDM and the permanant smile on your face that emerges every time you hit a shot will not be easily removed!! :tsg_smiley_drool::atsg_smilie_onoff:

Go to a local fitter than carries exotic japanese shafts like Oziks and get fitted. they are a round, you just have to find them.

Otherwise I'm sure chris can set you up with one as a loner if you pay for shipping and deposit.

With that said, I think the VS proto is great! in the D2 head. It will be hard to find another shaft that's more bang for the buck. The key is to find a head/shaft/ball combo that will get you the highest efficiency. If you get close enough, you're not going to do better even with a shaft that's a billion dollar

Hi I preferred the 905r and put an Axiv-v shaft in it . This is a great combo for me , good control with good distance on the course not just the range. The Axiv is a great shaft in the real world. I was unsure about spending the $$$$ too. Be honest about your swing, read all the blogs and ask TSG for a recommendation.

I agree, i can't comment on the exotic shafts but the 905r head is way better than the D1/D2.

I can't help thinking these were launched as gimmicks to retain a foot hold in the fast moving Driver market so as to having something new along side Callaway, Ping and all the other Square, hex scooped back and other funny shaped marketing dreams.

I have an Epon 460 and a Bridgestone J33R and a Titleist 905R and the Titleist hits the ball the furthest out of these three. The Epon being the shortest. Know sane person can honestly tell me Titleist doesn't make quality drivers. I will admit however, the Epon has a fee all it's own and it's a damn good one!

I've only had the chance to play USDM shafts, and I've been stuck on my 983k w/an NV75 pured. I have the 905r, 907d2 shafted w/the same shaft, and tried many more. But for some reason I always go back to my 983k.

Would love to try the Roddio shafts
