Mx 23 with black golds?

im going to try reviving my old school mizuno mx23s, since im bored and have a set of black golds from bogeydog im deciding on replacing the stock oem graphites with this. since i am havig great success with the epon x tour concept combo im curious to see what all the hype is with the black gold.

anyone try this combo? im curious to hear your opinions before i have them reshafted. it was either black golds on Mx23 or black golds on beres mg801 but decided to leave the stock armrq shafts alone.

well the shafts i got were a bit short and had them installed today. effective swingweight was around c9, i added about 1/2" of extender to get to my preffered length. i had about 8 shafts and used the longest shaft for the 4 iron onwards-pw. with the extender the new sw is now d2, just the way i like it and exactly same sw as my beres mg801 and epon x with TC r3.

will have reviews for this soon.

me and shepherd were able to test my mx23s with black golds yesterday in the range. man i dont know if it was the supers soft grain flow forged heads of the mizunos or the shafts or both but these easily felt much better than my epon x with TC r3 shafts. if i am not mistaken these are slightly lighter than the TCs but feel a world of difference. dint find them as taxing to use.

shafts loaded up nicely, will test it out for 18 holes today and compare the trajectories with my Tcs. for now this combo just booted my eponx/tc out of the bag. for now at least. will have a review soon after

the black golds are a very smooth feeling shaft-- rifle feel to them -- good the experiment went well..

let us know how your 18 holes went.

i have the same set (mx23 w/ BG stiffs) but haven't played them yet. still working the r7 forged.

might want to switch back, still think the mx23 is softer and easily more forgiving.

i love the black golds/mx23 combo. this is the club combo that took out the epon x/TC R3 out of the bag. i am not sure if its the shaft, the head or both. the black golds easily performed better than my epons. im starting to wonder how the epons would feel with the black golds. i actualy gained about 10-12 yards in each club. my 8 iron mx23/bg is the same yardage as my 7 iron epon/tc. in fact i am having to hit a down when i shigted to the mx23s. forgiveness + feel.

ive tried TC, nspro, rifle for now the black golds are my favorite by far.
