xxio
What are you impressions and what can you compare them to/against?
gocchin
They all have pretty good feel, the V will launch lower than the two Oziks with the X-Con launching the highest. The V-Spec probably has the most noticeable kick to it. The X-Con 6 is a high launch low spin shaft. The Code 6 is a mid launch mid spin shaft. The Vspec is a mid launch mid spin shaft. I've played the Axiv and Code 6 and prefered the Axiv performance wise. Both felt smooth and stable but got more distance out of the Axiv. xxio
Gocchin, Thanks. A local (member here as well) has a new Axiv V 6074 SX at a terrific price. I'm also looking into the Xcon 5 (sorry not 6) because I can get them both at the same price. Specs (No BS measurements) SS: 100-103, I get up to around 105-107 during October-March when I play more than 6xs a month. Mid-Low launch but high spin (strange but true). I generally like high 50's-mid 60 gram driver shafts. It will either go in my Honma TW 460 or my Cobra Pro S. I'm trying to keep spin down in Cobra. The Graman is actually doing fine in my TW 460, but I would want a premium shaft in there and probably put the Graman 640 into the Cobra. +TourSpecGolfer
XCON 5 Sir! that has the best numbers of any OZIK shaft around. Ozik does make a very high quality and solid performing shaft. To my surprise th XCON 5 performs better than the XCON6.
gocchin
You specs would call for the X-Con 5 as Chris said. It will help get your spin down for sure and help get your launch up a bit. Weight will be right in the range you prefer and solid smooth feel.
xxio
Thanks. So Chris, Xcon5 over the Axiv V 6074 SX? Any suggestions on flex? Do I have to built it overlength to get the "better numbers". I play 44.75" drivers but am currently playing my TW at 45 and do okay. Also how is the feel on the Xcon. People say the Codes feel better. Edited October 7, 2007 by xxio
jacksonlui
what's the difference between code5 and code6. read on another thread that it doesn't have much to do with weight alone?
xxio
what's the difference between code5 and code6. read on another thread that it doesn't have much to do with weight alone? Based on my research so far the 2.5 torque vs 4.0 torque makes the 6 feel boardier. The 4.0 on the 5 doesn't feel like a 4.0 though. Maybe Ozik measures it differently? jacksonlui
if torque is the difference, wouldn't you won't a lower torque for a large 460 head like the Epon? doesn't seem boardy to me at all, my ss is about 95-98mph with a moderate transition. i guess that's where feel is different per person
xxio
I don't know, btw I made a mistake I was referring to the Xcons.
+TourSpecGolfer
As far as Ozik's go they are incredibly well made and imo the constancy and tolerances is one of the best around, CPM's usually read closest to the butt sticker than any other brand pre and post install. From what I have seen on the vector the Xcon5 produces great numbers for a large percentage of players swinging from 95-100ish mph. Better than the Code 5/6 and Xcon6. For a while I was using one in my driver prior to switching to the 6-ply proto.
