Posted October 18, 200717 yr So my wife and I decide to head out for 18 holes this morning. Weather has been nuts and season is winding down. It was unusually warm this morning at 14C but extremely foggy, we couldn't even see 30 yards in front of us... but it cleared as the day went along and sun came out. Thing is it was humid... and wet. You guys know I take care of my clubs... I wipe them after every shot but it was just so wet, and my raw wedges (carried Grind Studio and Sky Dream Jump today) suffered with lots of surface rust. What can I do to save my beauties? Steel wook? If so what kind?
October 18, 200717 yr clean it with some WD40 and then apply baby oil or olive oil. i'm not sure if steel wool is sucj a good idea, it might scratch the finish. how about a scrubbing pad with dishes, the green ones that's fiber? a copper brush helps also. let us know how it turns out. i hope others have better suggestions.
October 18, 200717 yr I use medical scrubs with WD-40 for my Epons and Vokey O.Cs. For my X-tours (my gamers), I don't really care... Sometimes a couple bunker shots will take care most of it. Talking about the fog here in Toronto... It's crazy~!!! 30yards? T? Last night I wanted to walk my dog, and I couldn't see within 15yards~!!! Just want to add something, T, I saw it on GOLF WRX that CLR is great removing the rust spots. Hope that helps. Lung-chia Edited October 18, 200717 yr by HULC1105
October 18, 200717 yr Author Thanks guys for the quick responses.... Got WD-40 and dish scrubs.... I saved the wedges and my Grind Studio looks like new again! (^_-) Lung-chia, it was like that first thing in the morning... 15yards visibility. I could barely drive to the course it was scary, but by the time we got there it was about 30 yards and slowly cleared up. Luckily I was using flourescent yellow Kasco's that were really easy to spot. ALL FIXED! :
October 18, 200717 yr T Dont put the head cover on immediately on after the round or when the club is still damp. This is the easiest way to get rust especially those expensive wedges.
October 18, 200717 yr Author TDont put the head cover on immediately on after the round or when the club is still damp. This is the easiest way to get rust especially those expensive wedges. While I'm playing I don't use the headcovers on the wedges, only on the way to the course... I don't use them on the way home either for exactly the reason you mentioned. They started surface rusting like that while they were in the bag and I was still playing... it was just so moist everywhere today...
October 18, 200717 yr wow scary science fiction movie stuff like magic mushoom appearing and growing in front of your eyes.
October 19, 200717 yr glad you sorted it out T! i actually just oil mine after every round. while im playing a nice wipe down after every shot is ok. i actually prefer baby oil as its friendlier on wedges with black oxide or compound finishes. for raw faces wd40 will just do fine.
October 19, 200717 yr Author Yeah I do wipe down after every shot... but the moisture in the air today was unbelievable... thanks again for everyone's concern and advice... (^_^)
October 19, 200717 yr Wow, I have never seen a wedge rust during a round, crazy! But, I`m happy to see that they cleaned up so well.

October 19, 200717 yr There is no fog in Thailand or at least in Bangkok. True, but I`ve played in some `other` weather as well :-) I have fond memories of slogging through a round or two in sleet... Ping weges are great for that type of weather, and man, I put them through their paces.
