Posted November 7, 200717 yr Anybody heard of Zone Z Sprout irons? My Japanese friend just sent me a set of 5-PW. It is finished in black, with small letter prototype 001. I think it has tour grooves, because of the marks it left on my balls. I suspect it is related to Zodia, or Chiba Fumio. Any idea? Thanks in advance.
November 8, 200717 yr Hi there, would it be these ones? If so they are soft S25C forged and the same head design as the Zodia Prototype Irons. Both are the same iron as the Geotech EK Forged found here: http://www.tourspecgolf.com/proshop/p1520/...oduct_info.html
November 8, 200717 yr wow, love the satin finish on these and the finish on the face, similar to the face on the Miura's, not sure what that's called. looks alittle like the Type J's
November 8, 200717 yr can't really tell the finish on the geotechs. are they satin finish or chrome? It says on the site, Mirror finish body, face and topline are "sandblasted"... yes that is what it says. I guess it gives it that sparkly rough look like the Sprout face above.

November 8, 200717 yr They are forged in Japan but not sure by who. The reason I asked was my r7 forged has the same finish. The sole was shiny chrome and the the topline and hosel a more satin look.Nobody knows who forged those either.Great irons, those r7's
November 21, 200717 yr gotchin: in your estimation that the geotech irons and the zodia are virtually the same, would that lead you to belive the feel would be about the same as well? i've never hit anythig by zodia, so if they are, how would you think the geotechs would feel regarding softness. compare it to fourteen or other soft forgings? thanks
November 21, 200717 yr The R7 Forged is done in Taiwan, also foundries usually don't finish their own clubs so it may not be a good idea to judge quality on finish. Not sure on feel because small design differences can change feel big time, also shaft and other features.

I doubt they would be Fourteen soft as Fourteens are always exceptionally soft which is why they are at a premium... one has to remember... even forgings of the same type of steel are done at different quality levels based on the budgets of those requesting the heads. I would expect still quality heads with good feel but not premium forged levels like Epon, Tourstage or Fourteen as reflected in the price.
