TBone
It appears that the Matrix Oziks are starting to make some in-roads on the PGA Tour and from what I hear may be a custom option in 2008 with a few of the USDM OEMs. So, who out there has played one of the Oziks for an extended period of time? Which one are you playing and what performance is it delivering for you? What shaft did it replace?
Mjr. D
Play the Ozik Altus in my hybrid. Amazingly straight, sturdy. Not the smoothest feeling, but probably the best pure performing shaft i own (distance, accuracy, trajectory) and i own a Fujikura Speeder (distance champ) Accra SE 80 M5 (nice kick, strong) Roddio Pentacross (smooth, but seems flimsy, distance seems minimal) Mach Line (2nd smoothest, straightest overall) Proforce V2 (not for me, kickpoint too low), Harrison Low launch (very nice), Aldila by U proto (good distance), Graphite Design UT i think it is, in my other hybrid (smoothest feeling shaft i own, straight, just overall nice). Have played others, can't even remember all of them. Oh ya, Diamana Blue...nice kick, balance, distance.
TBone
Mjr. -- Thanks for the input. Curious to hear about the Altus and the XCon series in the driver. On "paper", the Altus sounds very good...high launch/low spin. I look to this site for unbiased reviews and to guys that have tried most USDM and JDM products. I'm sure many on this site have tried the Altus, would like to hear if it is delivering the performance it advertises.
TBone
Anyone playing an Altus? Interested in hearing some recent reviews!
+TourSpecGolfer
I am currently not playing any Ozik shafts but have in the past. Our Ozik sales are still very strong and our customers mostly very happy with the performance of the product.

Our Ozik sales are still very strong and our customers mostly very happy with the performance of the product. Specifically, which Oziks have you played? Any comments on performance, comparison to the Mach line that you are playing now in the driver.

dpark
I have played many Ozik shafts in the past and hit them side by side with other high end shafts like Diamana Red/Blue/White, AXIV, GD YS-6/7, Fujikura 660/652/757. Thsy aren't bad shafts, but for me, other shafts fit me better. I hit the Altus and Blueboard side-by-side in identical Ping Rapture heads on a launch monitor and I launched the Blueboard higher than the Altus. It had lower spin but NOT higher launch, so be careful before you buy into all the Altus hype. I also tried the Code-8 in my fairway woods. Very good shaft, but again when hitting side-by-side with the Blueboard 93, I got better results with the BB. Finally I had the Altus hybrid in my Adams hybrid. Again a good shaft, but when compared to a Fujikura Rombax 8D07HB in the same head, the Fujikura won out. Matrix shafts are not junk, but they are expensive, so before you go down that road and spend the big bucks get on a launch monitor to know exactly how you are hitting your driver, fairway woods and/or hybrids so you know what you need (if anything).
