Soul survivor
Hey guys this is my first post! Recently I have been craving the Epon AF-301s, something about the Epons just makes me really want them. I've read all the reviews and everyone says these are great and have feel like no other iron. Currently, I have the North American Miura CB-301s and they hit and feel great, but I always come back to look at the Epons and wish I bought those instead for some reason. Plus the deals on TSG are great. They just look awesome and there designs look like they perform great. Which would you prefer or which would you say is the "better" iron? phil
Duffer19
I dont have the Miura cb301 but do play the cb201 and I can tell you that the Miura is easier for me than the Epon 301. My Miura is on nspro 850 while my Epon is on Shimada AC10 both in R flex. It is not that I cannot play the Epon 301, I am just not consistent enough with it to score well. Perhaps it is just me and not the club since I am now playing off 15 and might not be good enough to play the Epon 301. I have absolutely no problem with my other set of Epon 501/nspro 850 combo. IMO, the Epon 501 is more forgiving than 301 with the undercut in the long to mid irons. I do not find the 501 to be clicky with its undercut. idrive
1st off, Welcome The Miura 202's are a closer match to the Epon 301's, the Miura 301 is a bit more perimeter weight oriented. I would assume they (Epons) are slightly less forgiving, playing a bit more as a players cavity back. If you're striking the ball well and want a bit more playability you would love the Epon 301's, especially if you like the looks. Not sure you could say one is hands down better than the other one. It's which ever one sets up and looks the way you want/like, and suits your game best. Wish I could give you a comparison from hitting both, but I have not hit the Miura's. IdriveJR
~ I would have to start off by saying those are prob the best clubs out there next to the epon af 301's. I just picked up a new set of L.H. Epon af 301's and don't know where to start on talking about the best club out there at this point, i have hit my fair share of clubs ranging from Taylormade, Ping, Titleist, Wilson, ext.... Now that im blessed enough to be able to have a L.H. set of Epon af 301's i don't honestly think that there is a better club out the for a person that is a better ball striker. clevelaand
I would find it hard to believe that there is a better club than the Epon 301's on the market. I just recently acquired my 301's and made them even better by shafting them with KBS Tour stiff's and they rocket the balls. Incredible feel and so easy to work the ball. I also have the Epon wedges and I guess the next purchase will be a driver from Epon.
xchangmanx
Couldn't agree more w/the last two posts. I sold my 301s about bout a month ago... >>I then became very sad. Life went black and white... I played my hogan apexs, 695s, mp62s, and the good ol R7s all during the past 3 weeks... only to come to the conclusion that I should have never sold my 301s. I have since found a mint set, and the happiness and color has returned to my life once again. Cheers to 301s!!
Soul survivor
Hey guys thanks for all the replies! I got a set of excellent conditioned AF-301s 5-PW for a good price and have been playing with them all winter. I love the way they feel, look, and fly with the NSPRO 1150 stiff shafts. I have to tell you guys though, I like these better than the Miuras. I have 2 sets now :). I was reading some threads on how people could get their clubs refinished in different materials. The copper finish is certainly beautiful and I was wondering how much it cost to get your a club redone by Epon? Hey I was also wondering how thick the finish on the 301's are because if I get them refinished will all the nicks and bag chatter come out? Thanks guys phil Edited March 10, 2009 by Soul survivor

Thanks guys phil I can inquire about getting an existing set refinished by Epon, We haven't done that yet but we have done many brand new sets customized for customers. Also in regards to removing bag chatter several things come into play like how bad is the chatter and what finish you would like to change to. To give you an idea of the process they strip the current plating off of the head using a chem bath then they send to the plating department or coating lab for the new finish. Drop me a PM for more details.

Golfcraft in Bangkok spoke to the guys and agreed they could refinish them. Was not cheap but then again not excessive either (i try to blank cost details from my mind as quickly as possible so can't even remember the exact cost per head)! They did seem to come back with any dings (not many at that point anyway) gone... there's a recent post over there also showing one guys copper 301's after longish term use to show wear - pretty nice wear patterns. I'll be posting pics of my 7 iron which has taken a bashing on mats as i've been seeing a pro and working hard esp with that club.... be a week away before i'm home. They are hella cool - and as above they get sent off to Japan for the treatment.... then you'll need to swap over to the gold/copper carbon ferrules also. ;-) Coops PS can you guys at Tourspec make some 'enquiry' / encouragement about a 'black nickel' finish like the Vokeys..... would be nice with the black nickel KBS shafts Ahem.
