Images of the New & Already Sold Out Yamaha Tour Limited Irons!

Every set we ordered was sold out before release. I have 1 left brand new 3-PW S200 and these ARE the holy grails of cavity backs!

I put a set in the bag almost a month ago and to be honest I have no plans of switching, I have had the chance to compare these to the new TS 701's, CB-2006, ONOFF CB247, AF-TOUR and the last version of Yamaha Tour Limited Irons. For the most part they are the same as the previous version except this new one appears to feel and sound like it has more meat behind the head. Our very own bogeydog mentioned that they were more forgiving toward the toe and that was something i didn't notice off the start but 6-8 full rounds into these sick sick puppies I now understand what he is saying. This new found forgiveness can help and I welcome all the ease of use i can get.

The one drawback to these having more meat around the toe is that they seem harder to hook intentionally. I haven't had many chances to test this shot but twice while under tree's due to a bad drive I really needed that #4 iron low hook runner to get me in front of the green. I know exactly what the older tour limited's did for me in this situation and the new version did pull it off well just noticeably straighter with less hook. Maybe it was my swing, I don't know.

Have fun with the images bellow, I snuck in some comparo images next to the previous model of Tour Limiteds.

I agree with TourSpecGolfer's review. Keep in mind that I too have played the 08 an 09 versions and written extensive reviews on TSG. If you have any reason to buy a new set of irons, do yourself a favor and grab this last set. If you prefer a set of irons that look almost like a blade at address, little noticeable offset, complete workability with reasonable forgiveness, and solid Epon-like feel, make the move.

Goodsie assembled mine and he could offer comments on what he saw in terms of head weight, consistency and quality from a club builders view. I installed the KBS black nickel 5.5 flex in mine.

I thank Bogeydog for entrusting me to put together and Tune his Yamaha Tour Limited Irons. This gave me a chance to get an up close view of these wonderful clubs. In short, the 2009 Yamaha Tour is definitely an improved design over the 2008 model (which was outstanding). Yamaha was clever in reducing the bulk of the metal on the bottom of the cavity. The over all weight of the club is still there but neatly distributed in the" horns" that frame the hitting zone. This little tweak will help lower the ball flight without sacrificing the feel of the Forging. This "horn" design also allowed Yamaha to control the balance and COG through out the entire set. The Spec's, as published, were "spot on" in each head and the fit/finish is excellent. Bogeydog is a lucky man to have a set of these Irons plus his decision to put the KBS Tour (Black Nickel) shaft in these babies only enhanced the pleasure of playing these surgical golf instruments.

Actually, I think Yamaha screwed up one thing with this Iron......they just didn't make enough of them.

The few that purchased these...are they still in the bag? as good as they look?

thanks

Still in my bag firmly. In fact, I was exchanging messages yesterday with TourSpecGolfer about them. What I have said in my previous reviews is still true. Now that I have spent more time with them, I say they are so very accurate with stellar distance and spin control. I installed the KBS black nickel shafts in all of the irons initially at a D1.5 sw however heavied up to D3. They are spot on now and they play so well. Feel is subjective. These have a more Epon clicky feel. My only issue is if you tend to hit thin shots you may not like them. They seem to favor a good solid trapped ball strike. Go fo it! I think TSG has 2 sets available. The long irons are easier to hit than the 08 model. I have been playing the Yammy Tours in the 2008 and 2009 model.

Thanks BD for the reply. Getting harder to resist as the temp rises.

They're still in my bag as well. AF Tours, 301's, and Miura baby blades are collecting dust. The combo of appearance, feel, sole grind, forgiveness and ballflight put it tops for me out if these. If you're thinking about these, I'd highly recommend them.
