idrive
I have tried most of the hybrids out there, jdm and usdm. They just don't work for me. I would say that that a huge part of finding a hybrid that works for you will be getting the shaft right. If I was looking at something to give a shot I'd try a Cleveland. If I went right to #1 I'd buy the Royal Collection. I think the RC would be a good fit if you get the shaft right. You may also want to consider something like the Epon AF901 as well. I have found hybrids to be hook machines for me. Edited April 12, 2009 by idrive
Goodsie
In reviewing your list, I find the Nickent is missing. The Nickent is a proven performer, especially the 4DX model. Square face without an offset and when used with a very low torque shaft will produce scoring shots without the severe left curve of most Hybrids. Another winner that flies below the "radar" but is the most used Hybrid on Tour. Without a huge marketing budget available to tell the masses about the 4DX, most amateurs don't know much about the Nickent and its ability to hit shots from all lies and still stop the ball on the green but the Pro's know about it. jacksonlui
i got rid of most of my hybrids and went back to iron woods. i like the epon 901 and also the tourstage xblade which i haven't had a chance to use yet. idrive is correct on finding the right shaft. i found that the xcon altus hybrid shaft works best for me so i have a few in storage just in case.. clevelaand
Nickent is tops when it comes to hybrids. I have a 17* and a 20* and they are solid with a square face that hits the ball straight like a laser. I believe I have tried just about every US hybrid there is and have tried the Tourstage hybrid and Nickent is still the best.
xchangmanx
I don't play Hybrid but I've hit most of the usdm stuff. Adams pro gold w/matrix atlus goes lowest for me. Does not balloon at all. Other hybrids that push the ball low were the TS 08 x ut the Mizuno hi fli both driving irons w/steel shaft. Fourteen Drivning irons are always solid wind clubs. Mjr. D
Thanks guys. I appreciate it. I've heard good things about the Nickent Hybrids but they're just so damn ugly looking (IMO)......... the green slime on the sole...... Maybe i'll swallow my pride and give it a shot nonetheless. Blader-X
I've gone back and forth from no hybrids, to carrying three and right now, I've got perfection. (For my game that is). I'm back to carrying 3-PW, two wedges, driver, 3 wood and . . . one hybrid. That hybrid is the best I've ever hit. The TourStage X-UT. Mine isn't the new one but the previous model. Low piercing trajectory and can hit from off the tee, off the fairway, in the rough and even the bunker. It really does it all. Full shots, half shots. Not to mention it looks great doing it all as well. My old, old favorites were the Sonartec TRC line. I think the best thing about it, is the trajectory. High enough to be effective but it doesn't balloon; ever. It just seems to be on a rope. Its the club I go to when I really, really need to pull off a shot. If you're looking for a shaft for one of these, the Graphite Design UT is the best I've seen or hit. Go with the 95 gram as well as X-stiff. That's my take Mjr. D. Good luck. Blader-X
Cool thanks. So where do you get one of these X-UT's? All my equip comes from TSG, naturally. However, I only see the newer, updated version available. http://www.tourspecgolf.com/proshop/p2160/...oduct_info.html Mine is the earlier version. I'm sure someone on this website might have one for sell or even try getting a hold of Gocchin or TourSpecGolfer.

I know Bridgestone makes clubs for "players"........ not that i fit even close into that category, but i do have a problem with too much spin and too high of a launch so it's a good fit for me. Any idea?
Mjr. D
Oh and the J33 drivers are some of the lowest spinning in golf.... so i'm assuming it carries over into their fairways and hybrids...
