jacksonlui
Has anyone found anything (JDM or UDM) that fits the bill. I'm thinking GW used for approach shots from 100 yards in. Should have a fairly compact head for out of the rough and possesses a decent bite. It also should be forgiving and doesn't balloon. I really like the DP2010 but needing a 50, 54, 60 gets too pricey for wedges that gets replaced often. The V5 and the new Epon wedge looks interesting. I didn't like the old Epon wedge too much. I was actually going to consider something forged off the rack in a box store. Maybe something from PRGR? I know I'm all over the place, I guess I'm not really sure what I need at this point in time. I figured maybe someone else ran into the same dilemma and can offer some advice.

You want the gap wedge to be very close in grind to your other wedges in my opinion. If your on a budget and don't want to spring for 3 wedges what lofts would you like? I play PW + 52/58 you may want to try that route as well to see if it works for you. I wouldn't suggest the Epon wedge just yet. It's too new and IMO Epon has not produced easy to use wedges since the technity. The 208 was not so hot, and this new 210 looks like it may not be the most user friendly wedge on the market. I suggest waiting to see how others get along with it. It's tuff so many new amazing wedges currently available. Seven Hills ( TSG Brand ) is a good choice, it's very easy to hit and the grind fits just about all turf conditions similar to how the Japan only TVD performed except It's FORGED. The DP2010 is another fantastic wedge, easy to hit nice feel. The Crazy wedge has a very easy to use profile, soft, and also performs very well. Fourteen V5 is a great product and the ONOFF S-Forged is highly suggested if you want non conforming grooves.
Spoon
chris is right, today will be a good year for wedges. there are soo many to choose from and for all kinds of players and playing conditions. i agree though on his comment about the epon 208kgx. they were not the easiest to use an opening the club was suited more for skilled players. hopefully the 210kgx addresses that. since they are conformed to the new groove rule, i am curious to see how epon claims to have the same spin rate despite the rule. also i am curious to see how the laser hardening on groove shoulder supposedly increases spin. i had all kinds of wedge brands for my 56/58 but my gw was always the 208kgx 52 bent to 50 for more offset. since i mostly use this around the green and for anything between 100-115 i had no issues with the bounce or grind. i recently shifted to a 54/58 combo 210kgx. will test these and see how the new groove rule affects spin on full shots on fairway and touch shots from the rough. also hoping that this will be more user friendly especially when opened up. jacksonlui
thanks for the info. the 2010 Yamaha irons have very strong lofts, historically my pw was usually 48. the wedges i'm looking into is 50,54,60. however, if the pw=46, i might be able to get away with a 52. i have several 52/58/60 sets, may be best just to bend them till i figure out what i need.
