I was fitted by a profitter in South Florida and he did an excellent job but as a ho I wanted more. He fit me with the Epon 502 w Aerotech steel fiber shafts and loved them. Beautiful shots that were incredible but as always somethingnhas to be missing.

So i have been playing in Jan wethering permitiing which was not many times up to June, Maybe ten rounds and a lot of practice balls. I kept telling myself these are the one that will work the best for my game. Hitting it a long way was not a problem but my misses could spray anywhere,

I am also looking for the latest and greatest so i found a set of Vega VC-01 on line and he gave me a great deal . They are 4-pw with DG tour issue s400 shafts with a wedge weighted to D8.8. mY EPON'S WERE D5 IN THE pw.I thought their is no way in the world I could hit them but my fitter did his magic of puring each shaft and setting all my loft and lie concerns and now I just played on a golf course in over 25 weeks and shot and 82 for my first time and then played Sunday nine holes and shot 39. My fitter said some people play better with heavier shafts but most don't especially being a 16 hdcp. The clubs and the weight just felt right and on misses they would be short but never sprayed to far off line. Anyone ever have this experience? I'm 6'1 and weigh in at 215 lbs. being I'm 45 and played American football all my life I have lost a lot of flexibility but somehow the heavy clubs have changed my thought process. Any opinions?

ive kinda gone the other way on many occasions ive always hit heavier sticks , then i picked up a set of ns pro 950 gh s shafts in some fouteens tc 1000 as opposed to the 1050 x in m y kyoeis blades and loved the extra flick i can get with my hands. (( im putting that completely down to bad swing fundamentals and having my hands catch up.)) but my clubbuilder insists i am to continue to hit the heavier ironed clubs bec when im on im much better so ......,i do as he says

ive been informed that thers a fitting process by which you are fitted thru your hand speed. not club speed

i cant wait to pop in there and have them do a fitting so ill know for sure. i think im very wristy and with the heavier clubs i can struggel to get thru the ball when im not playing well and push block a lot of balls, this is my thinking, but im looking to get this hand fitting done to find out for sure.

in my mind tho what ever gets the ball closest by what ever means is the best. but i still err to light clubs when the going gets tough and the heavy blasters when im on a roll. prob not the ideal set up for consistency me thinks...........,

the story of my life heavier shafts. got my tempo in check and controlled my most violent swings. i had my irons at d8 but also coz they were played .5 longer than standard. worked really great but unfortuantely im off golf for the time being due to an unrelated golf injury. so will be moving to lighter shafts and building my strength once i am well enough to play.

Heavier shafts and swingweights tend help those who go at the ball way too hard and tend to get out of "tempo". I have tried going lighter in the past and never found it to feel right. In fact in set I had long ago, most of the clubs were around a D4 and I never liked the way my PW went. It ended up being a C9 and that pretty much told me what I felt was correct. My current set up is simply made in heaven and the irons spec out around the D7-8 mark with my wedges being E2 or E4, can't really remember which. Remember though, heavy shafts do not necessarily translate to a heavy swingweight. Shaft weight is a static measurement and swingweight is a dynamic one. Finding the right combination of both is the key and when its done right, its magic.

First off, Spoon I hope getting better soon cause I know that feeling really well.

What is interesting to me is my swing coach without knowing my changes thought my swing was very incontrol. She said I did not have a lot of little movements at the top of my backswing, kinda like I was feeling for the head. I told her my change and she confirmed the heavier swingweight was ideal for me. I play tomorrow and I have a sore back from over doing it so that should be a good challenge.

PS. Where's Idrive?

I heard that Idrive is enjoying life after selling his company! Last I heard traveling the country going to baseball games!

He drops in time to time buys a club and vanishes... :tsg_smiley_pimp:

Man, that sounds like what we all need to be doing. If only money wasn't so freaking important think about what we all could be doing. I guess it could be an addiction, like me the more I make the more my wife spends. I guess I can't say much. Clened my closet and had 9 pair of golf shoes. 8k in clubs, shafts heads I din't use. I think its time for a sale on her soon after I get back from Gatlinburg TN. Nothing like play golf in the mountians and all you see is beautiful views and wildlife. My first sale will be my Epon502's so if anyone knows anybody that wants what has said to be one of the best sets evermade give them my name.

Sorry for the threadjack, and sorry as well but I haven't actually gotten to put the time in with this club as of yet, a couple of home projects and then I've recently twisted my knee so it'll be a couple of weeks before I can let you know. The feel is amazing and I'm very sure it'll be a solid club but when I do put in the time I promise to post a review of this club in addition to the new RC VS 3 wood I just received from TSG as well.
