Petethepilot
Hi guys, I have a 101 IP 9.5* and have the opportunity to get a 10.5* 102. I believe the 102 flights lower than the 101 and I think the 102 head is heavier. Can anybody give me advice as to differences in feel, perfornace of the 2. Thanks, Pete
+TourSpecGolfer
I think the 102 feels better and has a better shape and profile by a slim margin. The head weight can be custom ordered through us. Distance is about the same in my opinion. The AF102 with a FireExpress or Crazy is an insane players setup. supo
Thanks TSG the 101 and the 102 are a perfect foil, there is definiatly a differnce inflight and stlye of play. the 102 is lower and better for straighter shots down the midde , on tight courses or on windy days i find this is the better head. the 101 is much better for swingers. its more compact, a bigger face and i i feel its better for kaboooooooooooooooooooooomimg. its more movebale , as for distance over all, well if u want more run than carry then the 102 is it it . u neeed more carry then its the 101. the quadra with ANY head is a winner winner chicken dinner! in the 101 tho i think its clsoe to the best set up. Petethepilot
Thanks for the good oil Supo. I'm just trying to find a weapon to beat you with!!! Pete I'm going to stick with the 101 IP and muck around with the shaft. I prefer the 9.5* over the 10.5*

I prefer the 9.5* over the 10.5* just hang on to that 101 ip..., its one of the beauties. at 9.5* is prefect. just get a low launcher. the quadra suits this prefectly. i had the stiger in mine first and i think the quadra plays better in THIS head. in he 102 the stinger is ,well just ask skipercarey its.............., MONEY....! . Thanks, Pete Pete i agree 100% with whats been said, im sure the stock 102 10.5* has 0.5* closed club face unless its custom ordered, and i dont know about you but i hate any club that sets up closed it would probably launch higher if closed to
Petethepilot
Thanks guys, yes I'm keeping the IP. Its only problem is its head weight is 198 grams (also the face scratching associated with the Ion Plating). I need to use a light weight grip or lead tape to get the swingweight up to my optimum d3! The 10.5* AF 102 is for sale at the moment. Pete

Pete you could be better off selling both and ordering a new with one custom head weight, loft, lie, face angle and shaft from the epon distributor in aus www.clubmaxxgolf.com.au thats what i would do get it done right the first time spend the coin on the quadra fire express and you wont regret it
+TourSpecGolfer
Anyone find that IP finished heads have a different feel or pitch to them? AF101IP vs AF101 std.
supo
Yea!!!!!!!! Its moremuted, its supposed to be longer as well its a softer feel for sure. Its a seriously good looking head but the face scratches up on it. I thought the caddy dropped mine but nope it was fromclatter. I just black penned in the chicks and viola u can still notice it a bit but it makes no odds to the drivers performance. They cost a fair bit more for that finish but yes def a more muted sound. I havent hit the IP but i remember the epon distributor in aus saying it was lower spin than the standard, not sure if hes right tho
Spoon
i had the older 101, that already paired with a low launch low spin shaft was crazy! but i found that like with all drivers the shaft selection is the KEY. tried many shaft combos but never found one that worked well with the 101 so i stopped using it in favor of the 151. that was my favorite driver shafted with an oban devotion shaft. i really loved that combo very much. long, straight and low spin. that changed though when i got my 102 almost a year and a half ago. i havent changed driver since but have had 3-4 shafts in the head. had the oban devotion, oban kiyoshi, and lastly the GD tour ad di. out of all the shafts i tried with this head the hands down winner is the DI. i find it to be the perfect shaft for this particular head. oh i forgot to mention, its the stock upgrade shaft from epon:) they definetly have something right going this route. nice high carry and lots of roll! not difficult to launch the ball at all considering it is very low spin. i had major difficulty launching the oban kiyoshi which has the same high launch low spin characteristics. the head of the 102 is a beauty, nice, round and compact. dont let the deep face discourage you though. considering this is for the stronger hitter its really easy launch and very workable. i use the 10.5 and couldnt be happier. Feel is also much better than the 101. As niimi san mentioned, it feels like the older persimmon woods from way back. well ive never tried those legendary woods but if they feel anything like the 102 then they are very soft. less metallicy than the 151 and 101. as for the IP , i thought all the while that the only difference was the black coating, did not realize based on the comments above that there was more added aside from the color.
