epon drivers 101 + 102

there must be something so wrong with me.

after hitting a billion balls all day sat at the show.

then playing sun, i figured i needed another session tonight.

i had a cpl of changes around with a few heads and shafts today.

put the QUADRA prototype 75xs in my epon 102 8.5*

44.875 x 329 (yes!) x d3

the epon 101 9.5* with a diamana stinger 70s

firstly the prototype combo

with an iomic x evolution (seriously there nothing better than these grips)

looks terrific for starters, the new shaft is money.

was teeing the ball up to 40mm and this worked well.

the trajectory is still higher than the old FEX

and i got a proper feeling for this shaft as ive hit the epons with FEX a lot.

the old one (FEX) is a more friendly feel , the proto is definatly tighter, higher , and id presume more carry , cant really say bec i cant see the end result. but i was getting them pretty well mostly and the reuslts were good.

definatly not as good feeeling as the crazy so far. but i wont say anything till i play it in a match. might be a bit on the heavy side as well.

i was tending to leave a few right, hard going from one weight to another and back. to get consistancy.

dispersion seems really good. more pingy than the old one for sure.

im not 100% sold on this compared to what else i have , but no decision till its gamed.

THE EPON 101- stinger 70s.

its so weird that shafts play good in one driver and not in another.

this 70 s was in my epon 102 8.5.

it was always long , but i tended to snap pull it a bit. i liked it but i kind of benched it recently. the dispersion wasnt what i wanted., i felt the shaft was too soft.

in the 101.............oh my god .it was like a ruler!

and long ,really long. i was mashing the back fence all night with this thing.

it felt miles better than in the 102 , i have no idea why. and it was a lot tighter.

ive always said i thnik the 101 u can swing faster with bec the head is more compact and rounded so im guessing i was turning thru the ball better .

this set up is as good as anything ive enjoyed hitting ,the epon feel is so soft and the stinger in this head feels slightly more alive than in the 102 .

prob bec. the 101 i think in my mind ,is made for drilling harder, i can t swing slow with this head , but with the 102 i find i swing a bit slower , and push the ball more.

i havnt been playing the stinger a lot recently ,prob bec i have so many new ones to hit ,

but after tonights session, its back in the mix. i think its actually the longest shaft for me. i seem to get the longest shots with this shaft.

its not as glassy a feel as the the crazy. or quadra. its something differnent.

for certian this shaft belongs in the 101 head. and in the yamaha tour head. in the smaller more compact heads it seems to play at its best

best of these..., ill say the stinger 101 tonight , but thats in the nets.

ill reserve final decision till i play a game with them.

pretty sure the quadra will raise its head enormously tho.
