Posted June 9, 201113 yr My quest for 2011 bag is almost complete. Still in need of new wedge set and 3wood possibly down the road. I would love to jump right into Yamaha wedges but the prices are kinda keeping me off at this point. I am looking to try other alternates and possibly Yonex Ezone wedges are best candidate. They look sharp and shape, griding and specs call out versatility which is what I want and need for new set of wedges. Anybody have input on these wedges and what is the main benefit or difference between onset and offset? Of course, I know what they mean by definition but would appreciate if someone could chime in real world definition. Thanks! Edited June 9, 201113 yr by indharbor
June 10, 201113 yr ah yes....., off set wedges. i know them well. my kyoei rafw 03 have a LOT of offset. i mean a lot. when i frst started palying them i kept snap hooking them . so i flattened the lie1.5* and now im NOT hooking them what so ever. and i like to hit knockodown wedges, off set wedges make this shot sensationallly easy to do. takes a little while t get use to th giant scoops in them but when u do ifind th shots brilliant, i esp like to hithtese when its windy much better contrl. plus the 52* for chipping to te pin form just off the green is super easy , can hood the ball and dril it real close with tops of spin. the 52* with off set is my fav by a mile
June 10, 201113 yr I just had this experience with an offset 52*. my friend uses an old mcgregor VIP & I had a go. Despite not liking it's looks it was very effective. So when I picked up my driver from club builder (kzg distributor) I tried his 52 demo also with offset. Same good results. So +1 here as to anyone that can explain onset & offset.
June 11, 201113 yr lots of people are anti offset in irons and wedges, I can handle a bit in either. I would take a little offset over a little onset or none at all.
June 14, 201113 yr The ezone wedge has been doing well for me. I was surprized how well it feels since the price is much lower.
