Shankopotamus
Hey, guys. With all these wonderful and beautiful JDM forged iron sets that have been released over these recent years, does Miura still get respect as great forged irons? Also, has the pp-9003 been out long enough for anyone to give a standing review, specifically comparing it to the pp-9001 that was released a few years ago. I'm thinking of making a purchase through the shop within the next couple of weeks, but there's a slight difference in price, and I'd like to know if there's a significant benefits to getting the 9003 over the 9001. If they play similar in forgiveness, might as well save that money to go towards another driver. Thanks. supo
in the US he s a god. you go onto wrx and every mofo knows someothing about something blahblahbalh....., ithink he gets more attnetion that unwarranted and unconnected to his actual product. than every other maker combined. ive tried his JDM irons, oh plus the 1957s and ive thoroughly enjoyed every one of them. some feel better than other s , some are better suited to the eye. the blade style he does is about the best style in balde ive ever hit. the pw i n the miuraism is THE best pw shape u can ever want its a scoring machine. so much so that i was going to get a sinlge sb-01 made and play that in every set ive got . here in Japan bec theres so many variables he doesnt stand out so much. his clubs still sell well but no more than any other. his ism range tho is still pretty revered. u see a set of those in a bag and people go hmmmmmmmmmmm, " geeeeeeeeeeeewhiz" tell you what theres a bloke on here that just got his hands on a 3 iron , and hes never played miura before, hes been an epon af tour guy. by all accounts he goes ok in the iron dept. well get opinion on miuras weaponry skipper-san??? Miuras been making clubs for a long time i don think he gotten any worse, the miuraisms sb-01 i hit of his that wre made 6 weeks ago testify to that. in fact id say i havnt hit anything thats better. yea my vote is he goes plenty ok
stevopagolf
I don't know about GOD, but most people in the US (I am in the US) and on Golfwrx in general only know Miura of all JDM makers. I think it goes back to bsg and "tour issue taylor made products". I think that is the genesis of the Miura phenomenon. Most people in the US have no idea the quality and variety of great JDM clubs, in fact, I never sell any of my JDM stuff, other than Miura, on Golfwrx because nobody has any clue as to what it is. Miura makes fine products. Most are old school offerings--not what gets done at Endo, but very good none the less. I agree with Supo their blades are the prettiest I have seen if I was a blade player, I would have them at the top of my list.
Shankopotamus
Well, I'm glad to hear that Miura still well touted. I was obviously asking about Miura, and specifically about the pp-9003s, because I'm in the market for new irons, but I feel like much of the stuff in the proshop is geared toward the better player or "mid capper to better player". My index is around a 10, so I need something more forgiving then most of the stuff I read about here on the forums or the blog. Similar to Gocchin, I don't live in fantasy land and try to hit clubs that I don't have the game for. But I'm sure that you guys can make some suggestions for a more forgiving forged iron set. So, based on personal experience, what would you guys suggest.
+TourSpecGolfer
Miura's got the new MB-5000W wedge and it's pretty kick ass. Also the PP-9003 global model is offered in 2 face shapes and 3 different sole grinds. We recently ordered each shape in each sole and are testing them now. Miura calls the face shapes Normal & Round and the Sole Grinds Normal (the standard sole), Trailing Edge Sole (Option) and Dent Sole (option). Below a picture of the Normal Face Shape. I think the best combo of looks, feel and forgiveness you can't beat the Titleist VG3's. Game improvement clubs without that look. Another suggestion would be the OnOff LaboSpec's just released. Similar concept to the VG3's

Comparing these pics to the ones in the proshop, these look like the "round" heads. And I think I do like the softer look of the more rounded shape. Shankopotamus
Chris, in that top picture, which head is that all the way on the right? It has a darker finish.
