I saw this Yamaha Inpres X iron picture from GolfWRX's 2011 PGA Championship pictures. The player named Hiroyuki Fujita was carrying this set of iron and wondering if anyone know about this iron. Could it be 2012 model?

I have been thinking of getting a set of 2011 model but I guess have to wait.

That's exactly what I thought once I saw this. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.

yes they must be.

interesting shape

they have just gone back to the 08 style and flattened out the muscle, and made it combine with the rounded lines of the 11s by hte looks of things

Yep look at all the converts! I am glad I have a standing order every year! ---------> Official Yamaha Ambassador

In all seriousness, Yamaha is the best.

gotta agree.

ONLY thing ill say that isnt a negative what so ever

but

the sole is wide on these, i took me a cpl of games to get used to the wide sole

after hitting blades for so long, it was a bit differnt to look at the largeness of these

and then i hit one off the screws

and it all changed.

i still like to play my blades, especially on harder pan ground like my home track in oz

but for lush rich soft fairways

oh boy yamaha= pleasure

The more I look at these, the more I feel they are a big design move from the others. There is a ton of meat in the bottom of the club plus they have added the steps design along the out edge of the cavity (similar to Epon 302). Looks like they also spread the meat out towards the heel and toe. Very clean looking and exciting to see.

I assume he is also baggin the new woods, etc. The other pics on wrx show him swinging a driver with a Mits shafts. Grey flower butt end with a white lower.

You guy's think these could be the non tour models for 2012?

I would assume a yamaha staffer would use the tour models. Could be a wrong assumption though.

If you look closely you can see the engraving on the top ridge of the cavity that says "Tour Model"

They typically release their irons very late in the year like around December.

Fujita (Bikke = nickname) ALWAYS gets prototypes around this time to test. Its a pretty normal pattern every year.

He always plays the Tour Model. Toru Taniguchi, Yamaha's other pro plays the standard V Forged.

And yes the Tour Model sells out way too fast and they never make enough.

We should start the pre order now though as I said its not the official release model yet.

Would be surprised if the 2012 release will be any different (tour model) than WITB now.(Fujita)

I know it's impossible to tell from the pics but the soles look very wide for a tour model.

will be very interested to see in hand, side by side comparisons of the 11's and the new (12's) release.

Really curious why he would be sporting Tity wedges instead of Yamaha...

Never got the feel with the Yams that I do with the Epons.

What shaft are guys playing in them??

Ah, gotcha! It is a Tour Model, It looks like it packs more meat lower on the club head than its predecessors.

We already have people lining up for these after this post was made. I find these to be very different compared to the 11's and wasn't expect such a drastic change as in the past Yamaha has made more subtle changes to the tour model irons annually.

As usual look to bogeydog for first impressions when released as he is always the first to receive his from TSG
