Spoon
ok guys i had my first foray with a jbeam 435 crazy cb80 noir 7.7 yesterday and i am hooked. crazy is my next driver and fairway wood shaft. thing is i am still a bit overwhelmed with the lineup. like looking for an expensive needle in the haystack so i want to do this right for obvious reasons. just a little info about myself i ss around 112-115 have a very aggressive fast tempo late release lag. and have a steep angle of attack. my current driver is a fex proto 75s which is getting loose and is on the high side mostly carry. now the cb807.7 noir is ok but i think i still lack control with it. im considering the TJ80 7.7. im not too concerned about distance, i just want to keep it in the fairway. will play it in a 44.5" driver. i want to feel the kick of the shaft , dont like boardy feeling ones. feel is important. TJ80 is my top pick but if you guys have other suggestions let me know. thanks carlo
gocchin
C, it's quite a tough call between the 80t Crazy shafts. First of all they are all quite demanding shafts. They play rather stout and getting the right one as you know is important. According to Crazy they believe the TJ-80 has the best kick and feel of the 80t shafts but from feedback I get from users. its quite a demanding shaft. It turns aggressive hard hitting players who hit hooks into players who suddenly go right with the ball. When hit well it can reap great rewards but that goes for the 80LS Noir as well. Both the FE Proto and TJ80 are in the 2012 shaft bible so I can compare them directly for you (though they used a 65S For the FEP) The TJ-80 is stout all the way from the tip through the center and the butt is average. The FEP is average in tip stiffness, semi soft in the tip/center area, reasonably firm in the center, and average at the center/butt and butt. While the TJ plays more stout, the shaft bible ranks its kick and square up to the ball ability as having more feel than the FEP which ranks near no feel, in other words the FEP just squares up and you don't really feel it. The key for the Crazys is really finding the right flex. If you really go 115 with lag and aggressiveness you should be the 7.
Craig
Spoon Interesting you are heading down the path of the JBeam/Crazy head and Crazy shafts as that is also where I am heading. Can only guess where the common influence is coming from. I have a Crazy 435 with Crazy New CB 80 7.4 (This shaft now known as the 80 LS II Noir) and can only speak highly of both shaft and head. I never thought the Ryoma would sit idle until I hit this. It is significantly longer than the Ryoma but in my hands nowhere near as straight but am slowly improving with it. The shaft feels incredible and the ball flight is perfect with good carry but massive roll. I must say that my mate bought this combo to muck around with but he has not got his hands on it yet. The Ryoma is gathering cobwebs and may even be used to prop up tomato vines. So impressed with it have ordered 4 different Crazy shafts to muck around with including another 80 LS II Noir. a Royal Decoration, Longest Yard 01 Hot, and a CB 46. Am intending to play around with Crazy heads 435, 435II and 460 and also my Ryoma. Shafts arrived today and am intending to changeover next week and see what happens. I doubt any combo will beat the 435 I sort of have now but am going to give it a go. Like you I am also fairly bewildered by the array and number of Crazy shafts around but I can honestly say that I have never hit a Crazy shaft and thought it was ordinary. Let me know if you want me to report on my experiments.

If you really go 115 with lag and aggressiveness you should be the 7.7 yeah i am defintely a 7.7. what i was using was a crazy black cb80 7.7 it felt fantastic, not stout at all and lively. this is what i am looking for mid lauch lows spin lotsa roll. i think this was before the nero and noir lines came out so i dont know what the equivalent model is. now if the TJ80 is stout then i will look at other shafts, stout shafts are no fun. priority for me is control, whats the point of a longdrive in the thic kstuff. willing to sacrifice some yardage. Spoon
C, you got stronger/faster post injury! Nice!!! yup all that therapy and core strengthening and stretching paid off. i have this hamstring stretching exercise that i would add during my Pt routine. Trainer: Why do you need your legs beyond 90* while on your back me: for stronger more flexible hamstrings trainer: thats excessive and beyond normal range of motion. me: but its the same exercise luke donald uses before his game. trainer: who's Luke Donald? Craig
Have not really had time to really experiment with things as yet. Had a period of preparation time where I hit the same clubs for a couple of weeks as I Spent last weekend playing plenty of golf including a round at Royal Melbourne. (played 12 holes that the Presidents Cup was on) The weekend was great and I played the best golf of my life including an 81 at RM. Went back to my old trusty the Ryoma 9.5 V Spec with Crazy LY 02 Noir and absolutely smashed it. Went silly hitting fairway after fairway( hit 46 out of 56) and really found the combo performed. As I grew in confidence and really started giving it a crack it went even better. It felt even livelier It would be true to say that i would be silly to experiment with things as common sense says just keep the Ryoma as is. However no one has ever said that I am very bright so the experiment will begin Have made a few combos and since the weekend have managed to almost hit all combos but not enough to report on just yet. Going away next week for 3 weeks so my report may be some time away. Only comment I would make is the Royal Decoration shaft has a bit of grunt and I think it suits an extremely wide range of swing speeds and styles more so than any other shaft i have tried. Have it in a Crazy 460 and Ryoma V-Spec at the moment and have seen it used by quite a few other players as well in my groups. All have loved it. Hope all you guys have a good xmas and will report again in the new year

Mjr. D
I have/had the Crazy FX435 with a Crazy Black 50 and it is/was awesome (until it snapped) - super long, great roll, low spin, etc, etc. Recommended big time! I also have the FEX and absolutely hate it. High launching and spinning crapola. I had it in a Titleist 910 D3 and the made for Diamana worked 10 times better for me. I'm actually going to sell it pretty soon.

The LY 02 Noir has worked the best for me (distance/Accuracy) I also have a Bassara Wyvern which feels similar TJ-46 but a hair softer & launches higher

idrive
I've been warned by the club builder, Goodsie Snap potential is high, examples: Taking the clubs in and out of the trunk, don't snag the driver.... don't let the clubs tip over... don't snag the door or door frame walking thru the door. TEE BOX - don't lean on them.... don't bang them on ground.... used to be guilty of both of these. not anymore. Super thin walls on these. Warranty is for manufacturer defects only.
