bogeydog
My set arrived last week, but the weather has been terrible. Today I may brave it all and go to the range. At first look, these are less busy looking in person than pictures. Similar in looks from the top to previous years. I haven't measured but maybe a touch more compact. The X Marks are the face are cool looking. The cavity is obviously engineered with subtle nuances that appear to be functional. Overall they appear to be all business and not full of gimmicks. Lets pray for the weather to improve. Edited December 6, 2011 by bogeydog
gocchin
We were able to get out about 14 sets of the Limited, a record for us considering how fast they always sell out. The most common feedback from users I have gotten is "Very SOFT!" Let us know how they go B.
Eca
Nice B, what shaft you got on them?

I am assuming that the clubs are assembled at Yamaha's facilities rather than Epon, would that be correct?
bogeydog
Mine came with the NS1050s. Not sure if I will keep them as I am hoping to replace maybe with graphite. I am not sure if they are assembled at Epon or Yamaha.

supo
mine arrived on wed night reshafted them with my NS proto shafts. took em out yesterday for a session out door range proper balls. the look is VERY differnt to the previous models. i had al l the previous clubs along side hittting the 5-7- 9 -pw to compare. the new model is a lot squarer in the top line to toe. more boxy with a flatter sole. looks like a bit more surface area than the older models. and id guess. a little more forgiving , the ball seems to be framed better with these irons than the rest, if u like the square look these are great. the first thing u notice is all the xxxxxxxx 's all over the face. totally differnt to the previous models. immediatly i think hmmmmmmm great , spining heads ! proto boardy shafts. highlaunch....... super straight flight....... spinning heads........ yes please! tried al the shots stingers, snap hooks , slicematrons straight shots. what ever i could think of. the heads certianly DO get a bit of spin on the ball .it landed pretty nicely in the shorter irons, the ONLY complaint i have on these again is the breadth of the sole on the scoring irons. i had 3 differnt stlyes of irons out yesterday miuraisms, yamahs , af tours, and i still find it chunky especially in the PW to get the exactness in my mind that i have with the af tours and especially the miuraisms. the older models like the 2005 and to an extent the 2010 are slighter and a lot more blade like. (esp the 2005) but without question the newer designs are much much easier to hit , but still very pro like in appearance at address. its just the PW the irks me. its BIG. but on JPN grass in summer that is nooooooo probs at all. not sure if these will be first choice at longy this yr........... but ill guarantee you they will be come may in japan. ill doubt if ill even take another set out between may and october next yr. the new cavity shape is very differnt to the 2011 its much easier to launch much more workable , not as solid a club. its "slighter" as the hatter said to alice.. "uve lost ur muchness, u were much more , muchier last time." thast not a bad thing.. the 2011s are prob the msot solid thunping irons ive ever played. these ones look alot more water than rock. i like both i prefer 2012 . its just the pw............................................... I agree with the wide sole observation. When I hit these irons in Tokyo, I was struck by how soft these felt even with the S200 shafts... But at the same time kind of amazed by how wide the soles were for a "tour/blade" type iron. Since I play the Miura tournament blades they seemed even wider. supo
heres an attempt, its bloody hard photing irons and trying to get it right but what we have here is 2005-06-08 tour 09 non tour- 11,12 tour irons u can get a slight feel for the differnce in grinds and trust me they are all quite differnt , but using the same basic mold. the bottom face shots are the 2012 on the left and 2011 right much much differnent. Based on your pics stew, I'd say the 2012 looks a tad smaller and thinner top line. I think bogeydog said the same.
supo
yup adn squarer , very much like the miura cb 3001 in basic shape. they are quite a divergence form the lat 3 yrs style. cant wait to game them this weekeend.
supo
right first game with them today. shafted em up with an NS proto x flex shaft that was the proto to the 1150 i think..( super tight , high and boardy things but they work a treat) they are much squarer at address than the older mods. flatter base. the new shape seems better suited to off centre shots, they are reminescint to the 2008 , more perimeter weighted. i felt they were more point shoot than really workable, esp with the flatter looking sole and thicker neck line. imo they are not as as dynamic as the previous models ,the 2008s or 2010s still stand firmly head and shoulders above form what ive hit. theseare extremely nice to play. and very forgiving for a pro model iron. need more game time with them. ill take em back to oz for summer workout. see how they go in oz. Spoon
can see the evolution from 05 onwards. the 05 looks so strange for some reason compared to the forward models. i have to admit the 12s are growing one me. love the shape of the cavity. very handsome
potuna
The even number year models are better looking to me.
IshikawaFAN
How do '11 compare to '08 feel wise?
idrive
Played my second round with them today. I started with the attitude that I'm not going to like them. They spin very well... could maybe pass off as non conforming... I could feel the entire face of the club on contact... it was different, not in a bad way. Very solid, I could draw a visual of the club face and where and how the ball was being hit on it from the feel..... I'm all about feel. Need more time as well but I like 'em to this point.. 7iron shoot out tomorrow.... Edited December 18, 2011 by idrive
