Posted February 11, 201213 yr I am looking for a soft feeling traditional looking putter and would appreciate feed back on if either of the following two putters would suit: 1) Kanji Putter 2) Lucky Clover Would also like to know what material feels softest out of carbon steel or JISSUS303. I will get it customized so any tips appreciated also - especially on the grip. Kind regards
February 12, 201213 yr You don't have to restrict yourself to the two putter designs that you have mentioned. The beauty about Master Sasaya's creations is that you are only limited by your imagination & budget. It would be best if you know the specs that you need (loft, lie, face angle, head weight, etc.). Then you can go around designing the putter that you want. Head shape: Looks like you've decided on the anser style head shape. GF also has the GFOOA w/c is more compact & boxier in shape. I'm not sure if the other head shapes are still available (Private Stock No.1 & 2, GF01B). Personally, I prefer the smaller head shapes. Design: Entirely up to you. If it's possible, he can do it. If you do a search, you'll see some pictures of his different works over time. Face Milling: The Kanji has the 1st Gen PZ Milling. Helps get the ball rolling sooner & reduces skidding. Some say that the milling mutes the sound/feel a bit but, I actually like the way it feels. There's also a Next Gen PZ Milling but, I haven't tried that. Finish: Multitude of finishes to choose from. The two putters you mentioned have the teflon black w/c is very durable. Material: "Softest feel" on putters can be very subjective to the end user. Either material should be fine. Another factor on feel is the ball you play with. Different balls will give you a different feel. Stock shaft: I think that it's around 120g. If it doesn't work for you & you need a heavier shaft, I highly recommend one of the Nippon Heavy Putter shafts. Grip: The stock grip is pretty good although, I've shifted to the bigger Iomic Absolute grip w/c helped me stop being too "handsy". Contact gocchin as he can help you out the best with all the options available. Just keep in mind that he might be busy with the Japan Golf Show on the horizon.
February 13, 201213 yr do u think he can do a replice of the axis eagle shape? id love this in a quality material
February 13, 201213 yr do u think he can do a replice of the axis eagle shape? id love this in a quality material I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do that. From a manufacturing perspective it would have to be completely remade and that would cost a fortune. Isn't the axis that funky one and I think it's not a milled putter?
