Henry
I am looking at a desired lie angle for a 5 iron to be 58 degrees. Factory order is 61 degrees and custom order can bring the lie angle down to 60 degrees. Can the club be further bent to 58 degrees or would bending the club an additional 2 degrees cause harm to to it. I would be looking at bending all the irons an additional 2 degrees. Petethepilot
Should be no problem Henry if the club is a forged head and it is done by a professional club repairer! Bending of cast clubs (and the heat treated or blackened heads) can be problematic due to the increased hardness (or occasional brittleness) of the head. Be guided by the club repairer and do them slowly! Knowing what brand/model you want to bend would make it easier to advise! Pete

corky3
Caveat....., some forged clubs if bent too much can crack, wrinkle or flake the chrome plating......
+TourSpecGolfer
I personally would just bend them with a good club maker. They will tell you that there could be some damage but almost never especially if it's Endo forged. Better to have the irons you want and the perfect specs even if it costs more. robbie
i have a mitchell lie loft bending machine and I have had no issues with cracking on the high end japanese forgings, especially tourstage and Epon......Titleist is the absolute worst in terms of plating, that stuff comes off if you yell "BOO" Anyways if its one or 2 degrees that is not too much stretch...i would prefer to move only 1 degree to play it safe....BUT for my own irons, I have moved some 5 degrees or more ! I used to be 4 degree up off Ping specs but i have flattened it out to 3 degrees now....This is a problem when i swing japanese clubs because they are usually 1-2 flat from american standard, adding my 3 degrees is asking a lot ......... Val Gunn
First post! I am doing something a bit similar. I've switched over to a single-length set of irons (1 Iron Golf) and love it, however I'm not happy with the look and design of the club heads so I want to build my own. I'm looking to build using all 7-irons (perfect SW for me) and then bend the heads to match the loft angles of the other irons in the set. Before I get too far down the road, I want to get some feedback. Bending to a 6i or 8i is one thing, but going down to a 3i or up to a PW is another. Is this possible to do? (I'd have a pro club head repairer do the work) Which brand would you recommend? (Enon was mentioned) Do they make it for Left-Handers? (This is critical for me) Thanks in advance!
