supo Posted May 14, 2012 Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 ok so ive seen these about obviously, i know a lot of u guys use them. personally ive been going the "other way" with shorter heavier stockier drivers recently . the reaason for my enquiry is i just bought back my crazy 435 9.5* head form oz. i had it shafted with a P9003x back there. and it was incredibly good and straight but it wa def too much for this little black duck to handle. which got me thinking.. the BEST shaft that had been in it was the original longest yard 01 at 46 inch i still have No idea why i changed that about, but i did. so.... to decorate royallty or to not? that be the question for all u budding decorators out there! or anyhting else i might consider?????? wmclarenf1 Posted May 14, 2012 Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 I read a lot about you playing minimum 70 plus gram shafts and in SX flex at least. I think a 40 plsu gram shaft is going to be quite bad for you. My La Bamba RD arrives next week and I'll have it in a 435 head as well. Wll be able to give feedback but only against the LY02. From my experience, a 70 plus gram shaft is going to play too differently than a 40 plus gram shaft for you to be comfortable if 70 plus gram is what you really are comfortabel with. supo Posted May 14, 2012 Author Report Share Posted May 14, 2012 well heres the th9ng if im going to walk the dark side i may as well go in dressed in black with sunnies on. these shafts i believe are easily able to handle any kinda swing .adn if it means i can get a bit more oomph in this head theni might try it, from what i rem the LY01 is a pretty light shaft and i really did hit it well. it was just the length that rritated me . regarldess of how well it went .i hated that extra inch hanging out the back of my hands at address...., the other consderation was a bb6x in GD Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

With the add length and lighter weight, I'm having trouble timing the swing and been spraying it all over the place lately. As I was mentioning to the TS, if you are comfortable with a heavier and stiffer setup, going to to the other extreme which I think is what the RD will be in this case, your swing tempo etc will not be able to adjust (nor should it. Clubs need to fit your swing not vice versa). I think given your game, physique, setup etc, you'll be comfortabel with to generalize, a heavier or lighter setup, and it'll be strange I think for one to be EQUALLY comfortable with say a 40 plus gram setup and say an 80 plus gram setup in this case a driver. Vegaman Posted May 28, 2012 Report Share Posted May 28, 2012 I have a TS 703 with a LY-02 Xstiff shaft and I hit it really well at times. But even though its flexes out to 280 cpm I need to be pretty "careful" with it, need to swing smoothly or I will lose it, usually badly left. If I have smooth swinging day it really bombs. As long as I don't try to kill it, they perform very well but when I have a wid-sih fairway and try to grip and rip, any and all sorts of things can happen. I can do it with not much craziness happening with my ancient R510TP with a RIP 70 in stiff. But if I try that with the Crazy LY-02 in X stiff, a real X since it flexes out at 280 cpm. I often lose control. It weirdly "plays" rather soft considering the cpm, but it's also very light and can feel like air in my hands when I try to hit it hard. Odd feeling. Often, what happens is I have a smooth swinging day, ball is going very far and straight, confidence in my ball striking goes way up, and then I decide to really go after it since I'm having such a wonderful day timing wise...? And then, the craziest hook or slice will appear out of nowhere. It doesn't like to be swung hard somehow. I'm not a smooth swinger in general, but can achieve very good tempo at times, and then the Crazy works really well. It's a swingers shaft I guess. Thanks for sharing ur experience : ) actually I get the exact same feeling but it's with my ryoma vspec/ wyvern.
