Bending lofts of blades 2* strong.

ok here are the lofts of my personals

3 4 5 6 7 8 9 pw

22 25 28 32 36 40 44 47.5

i am thinking of bending the 4,5,6 1 * strong

and bending 7,8,9,pw 2* strong.

im worried of decreasing the bounce by 2* as i

am a digger. no specs on bounce on personals

so wanted to ask those who may have possibly bent

other blades, better yet af tours.

let me know, il do this experiment when my monacos arrive

ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

do not do this to these clubs

the distacne is 100% spot on perfect

just change the shafts....

monacco will be 1/2 club longer than the DP.

loosing distance on my short irons but that is

understandable , ive tried over clubbing 1x but i am

still short. 2x over club and i am way too long. after

using my blades for 2 weeks i am around 1.5x weaker

than my previous set.

will take your advise and wait.

I would wait & see what kind of flight & distance you get with the monaccos before bending them.

wow what good advisers i have:) yeah will wait for the monacos before even considering bending them

It's important to email the clubmaker (if necessary) for bounce specs before bending for loft.

High bounce clubs (most Japanese models) should be bent strong to get the lofts you want..

Low bounce clubs (like my 870Ti models) should be bent weak.

My 5-iron is spot on at 27°.

My 6-iron is 1° weak at 31°.

My 7-iron is 1° weak at 35°.

My 8-iron is 2° weak at 40°.

My 9-iron is 2° weak at 45°.

This lets me skip the matching PW and go straight to my wedge set.

i would definitely do it! my yardages are dialed in with modern (stronger) lofts and if i got a new set with traditional lofts i'd immediately bend them to my game rather than spending the next 6 months figuring out new yardages. besides, my ball flight is so high anyways that traditional/weaker lofts are detrimental to my game.

Nothing wrong with bending your lofts a couple of degree's. Just means you will have to get dialed in again, no matter what shaft your using.

I agree, provided it's not to the extremes. Dialing in can become a long term affair for some, and rather distracting. It would certainly put pause to any improvement program you might be on. Unless the clubs as is are truly unacceptable, I would not do more than shaft changes.

if u use plenty of steel tape, u will eliminate bend marks....its really a hassle to put on and take off but trust me its worth it.....the steel tape i am referring to is the duct tape they use to connect HVAC piping.....dont be cheap about it, use at least 2 circular wraps around the hosel and 2-3 thin strips along the sole and one for the topline.........

thanks for the tip, i have had perfect clubs get dimples on sole bec of bending.

i actually just use a brochure on the sole and made a silicone and brass cover for the hosel

to eliminate marks.

i will check this tape out. thanks robbie

  • 2 weeks later...

Well I bent my clubs 2* strong from 5-pw

And 1* strong in 3 and 4.. I don't think there will

Be any problems with the bounce as the killed leading

Edge has some room to spare.

Also Bent lofts upright 1* 3-7 and 2* 8,9,pw .

Will test them out tomorrow

Best decision I have ever made! Could not get dialed in with the old lofts.

I am close to my old distances already. 2* has visually lowered my ball flight especially on the mid short

Irons.

As far as bounce not really affected and I played in rain soaked fairways. 3, 4 1* only

so you're now saying these are the perfect set of irons? you need to let my dad hit those while he's there!!
