Went to a golf shop I know near the my office during lunch time to look for a pair of sport insoles for my Mom and ended up with a set of used Honma LB280 3-SW (10 clubs) with 4 stars graphite shaft for $550. The set is in surprisingly good shape for this old and just couldn't resist the LB280 being such famous and old school Honma not like the new stuff.

Hit these? Humm, thin top line and narrow sole; not sure whether I can game this compare to all my GI irons. I would be interested to find out how this set would compare with the 30th anniversary model now in the proshop. I bought it just simply because I love old school Honma and did not cost me an arm and a leg.

but you gotta try them at least once...

i used to play Honma....definitely the softest metal out there....softer than any forging i have ever tried and the 4 stars is no joke....that would be super pricey upgrade......the metal on honma is not forged but the 27 steps they use to prepare the head is amazing......i wouldnt play honma from the vintage years without headcovers......each click click in the bag = a ding or bag wear mark.......amazingly soft clubs with awesome detail !

these are classics and super soft castings at that. I used to have a set.
