sjdavies47
Looking for some help to find some alternative shafts to the 'standard' offerings I've been using to date. When fitted (mizuno national fitting centre & local fitter) they have both come back with the same two shafts (TT DGSL S300 & PX 5.5). I am currently playing the TT DGSL S300s as I just didn't get on with the feel of the PXs. What else is around that I should have a look at that would have a similar profile to my current shafts? sjdavies47
thanks for the post. Having searched around the Super Peening Blue look like a contender, what do people think?
chiromikey
i'm definitely not one of the resident experts but here's my take... if you like a low spin low trajectory shaft then the sp blues or c-tapers are the way to go. i love the c-tapers as they feel great and take whatever i throw at them and just perform. the sp blues are supposed to have the same performance as the c-tapers but even better feel. however, it took me some time to figure these shafts out. they seem to favor a swing that loads late with plenty of lag. once i figured that out i can finally admit that these shafts are pretty impressive. i'm not sure why but they seem to feel more head heavy than any other shafts i've played. the other shaft i'm trying right now is the tt monacos. these are more mid trajectory and very smooth. overall they feel better than the sp blues on everything except the perfect strike, that's where the sp blues can't be matched. however, the monacos are the most balanced shaft i've ever touched...and you can feel that balance before you even swing the club. and if you want to get technical, they frequency out at perfect intervals unlike any other shaft i've had tested. there's good reason these were limited edition tour only shafts! Now you have left me in a quandry with this report. I used to like a head heavy feel and these days I am very interested in learning the actual feel of frequency balanced shafts. I'm wondering if I can afford both. Shambles

Shambles
Shameless plug!!!!! I have a couple of sets in USDM BST with SP Blues in stiff. Think they are fairly priced.... To be honest, there are many things listed on this board that I would like to examine but have refrained from doing so because of the difficulty of bringing those things to my part of the world. Instead, I try to keep an eye open for some of them to turn up locally so that I can try them out. sjdavies47
Thanks for the help, are there any reviews of the SP Blue (ideally specifically comparing them against DG S300 or DG SL)?
chiromikey
imho, the sp blues have a higher kick point and slightly lower trajectory than the s300's. the s300's have a weird oscillation on good shots that i guess is supposed to translate into good feel but i'm not a fan. the spb's are just solid and i think more suited for the stronger/more aggressive player. as i mentioned, i don't know that there's a better feeling shaft on perfect shots than spb's. i have a set of 3-pw pulls in stiff that were soft stepped and built around a 38" 5iron. if you're interested you can pm me. supo
sp blue................. low launch arrow straight .. not great off centre shots ....,middled tho nothing too much better ive hit.. IMO they shud be played by the best ball strikers...... in wind or on links they are unmatchable............so much so that im going to get another set for my annual chrissy trip home in dec and stick em in my miura 5002s. ONLY need these in stiff flex and i play x in everything else...... DG s300.. make a lovely set of arrows if u sharpen the tip . put a slit in the butt and shoot from bow...... .wha?? did i say that or think it ????? nah they are ok. absolutely nothing to say about them except they are stock in everying bec they are cheap. ks smhimada tour 120..... very very nice shafts.. kinda mid launch kinda workable.. kinda good feeling .. kinda easy ... kind good. theseshafts are difficult to sedcribe bec the kinda do everything really well without having a particular selling point... they just work really well. prob on the softer side. ive used them in X and S i prefered the x.. but id prob soft step the x next time to gte just a wee bit of lateral movement,, the s id prob hard step ....... Usually I would have said hard step as it helps keep the flight down, but these are the blues so soft step it and you'll still probably get a nice trajectory...
