ukok
Just heard a rumor that Epon, may be releasing a mark 2 version of the Personals, in a couple of months. Anyone heard this as well?
wmclarenf1
We should not be too surprised if they do given what we have seen from Epon of late.

wmclarenf1
LOL, if this is true, you can never take Epon serious about their Limited Edition runs!! Think of Epon as the AP Royal Oak Offshore or Panerais of JDM :-)
+TourSpecGolfer
Think of Epon as the AP Royal Oak Offshore or Panerais of JDM :-) Haha! I'd prefer Epon doesn't say an item is limited if they have plans to re-release it. It get's under my skin when companies do that sort. On the other hand they did lose one of the greatest designers and presidents to S-Yard and EPON will have to adjust to not having Kobayashi-san around... Expect S-Yard to take off in the next year! In regards to a Personals MKII, A side of me hopes for a MKII but Epon isn't sure where the rumor started. If it does happen lets hope for bigger changes than just stamping. I really hope S-yard re-invents itself. For yonks and on my small island anyways, S-Yard is so synonymous with senior golfers.. very senior golfers ... I'm getting there but not yet :-) Edited January 24, 2013 by wmclarenf1

ukok
Think of Epon as the AP Royal Oak Offshore or Panerais of JDM :-) Apart from being watches the difference is Panerai and AP number their limited editions, saying that my Diamana X is number 0003 from memory. DaleUK
Isn't there something that says, along the lines that a limited Edition can only mean at that time of making? So in theory you could run another limited Edition of the same Model...?? In limited numbers?

swisstrader
Does "limited" infer that a manufacturer cannot produce a Version 2 of the product? In my eyes, ALL manufacturers are FOREVER coming out with something to entice you to pull out your credit card once again. I'm probably less offended than other because I buy with the expectation that a newer model is probably way past R&D by the time my "latest and greatest" is in my hands. RIduffer
I look the terms "limited edition" differently than "limited production". I would say the most Panerai or Yam Tours are known to be limited production within a given year. The Special Edition Panerai or Epon Personals/Zen are touted as limited edition. I know it is a semantic argument but it goes to how much faith you put into a brands statements. Most things, I expect to be upgraded or otherwise improved upon for future iterations, akin to Swiss' comment. However those 2 words when put right next to each other have a different connotation. For me I will look at Epon statements with a grain of salt from here on out. Assuming the rumor pans out….

bogeydog
I can understand everyone's concerns, but Porsche and ever other high end manufacturer makes some sort of limited edition to later cone out with another package of sorts similar to the previous with some minor tweeks. They don't produce more of the same again, but re badge it with minor mods. None of them destroy the design never to resemble again.
